• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you ever wonder if it you should just stay with your ED? Sometimes it just seems so hard to beat it. And when there is ao much going on that is stressful it's the only thing you can control. And the comfort is great to. I just wonder after fighting it for so long is this what is ment to be. If it isn't then why does it keep coming back? I'm really stuggling with with so much right now. And I'm afraid. I got scared the other day getting dressed i thought that I felt some fat. And now it's like you can see it. But I'm unsure is it just something I see or do others see it as well. I no I'm not happy at my weight or what I look like so I don't know what is true. I just don't feel that right now I have what I did to beat this. I'm starting to lose hope.:sigh:

I believe my eating disorder is the thorn in my flesh that Paul talks about in 2 Corinthians. It will always be with me, as a temptation when there is stress. That is why I learned coping skills and self-soothing techniques in treatment, to give me a choice when there is temptation to act on my eating disorder.

You have choices too. You can do self-soothing and learn to cope with stress. You can choose to believe your doctor and not the mirror. You eating disorder has caused you to not be able to see the real you. It is called distorted body image. You need someone to give you a reality check, and your doctor is the best qualified to do that.

If you cannot get therapy, at least see your medical doctor. If you can get therapy, ask your family doctor for a referral to someone who has experience with eating disorders.

Hugs,
Trish

amen. it is a thorn. :D :sorry: ... heh. ok, seriously. EDs aren't fixed permantely with alot of people. it remains a temptation and struggle.

instead of beating up yourself (fight this every inch!) ... learn to survive, thrive; and celebrate everything you do do right. from a snack to a meal. from conquering a compulsion to taking out the energy elsewhere. every hour is a step. just stay in that hour, or that day. don't lump it all together. don't worry ahead. stay in your moment.

Proverbs 17:1
Better is a dry morsel with quietness, Than a house full of feasting with strife.

better is a little morsel in your life than a big banquet with strife. this scripture does not refer to food, but uses it as a picture for us to see. in other words. the little things count. so count them.

blessing for you to give yourself and heart a break to refresh yourself and start over on a new path with your struggles. a blessing for lots of fellewship and encouragement, and a blessing for newly learned coping skills to help you manage. :prayer:
