I broken old bike he had on hand (or so he says). This doesn't make a lot of sense, but I don't expect Ol' Brainworms to make much sense. (There is another element I saw quoted this morning somewhere from a contemporary source that the bear was stabbed, but we'll have to wait and see if that is confirmed.)
