  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My opinion is that it will not happen. With the drop in fuel costs and harvesting stepping into todays tech - I don't see it.
Surely, you know just how far UP gas prices have come up in the last year as a result of Trump's Middle East and Ukraine policies.

Surely, you know how much value US businesses have lost value since Trump was elected as evidenced by the huge drop in the stock market since Election Day as a result of Trump's policies.

And, surely, you have seen inflation soar to the highest levels during Biden administration due to Trump tariff policies and aggressive foreign policy.

And, surely, we are deep into a 2nd Trump recession.

Not anyone in the know -
Do I need to remind you of the glowing things you said about Tulsi Gabbard elsewhere? She didnt even think Iran had a viable nuclear weapons development program at all. Despite your ardent support for her, she was totally wrong.

So Im not sure I trust your judgement on these matters frankly. You seem to be just approving of Trump decisions in an unconsidered way, like you did with her.

(In a different universe where we didnt have a supposedly governing constitution, where all that matters is what you can get away with, I would consider this attack a net positive.)

I'm not anyone of importance - and you should NEVER trust an anonymous poster on a public forum.

It doesn't mean anything to me if you do or don't - I don't take things personal here - so that is not an avenue that will help you. I don't recall anything I have ever said on her view of Iran gaining nuclear weapons.

Congratulations - you mentioned one person from your "pretty much everyone".

What about the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency - see I considered what they said also
What about our allies in the EU - I considered what they said also
What about our greatest ally in the middle east - I considered what they said also
What about the other US intelligence from the military and etc - I considered what they said also.

I'm sorry - I made my statements after consideration of a variety of sources.

Link? Where did you get these very specific stats?

I did a quick AI check:

As of 2022, the food and agriculture industry in the United States employed approximately 22.1 million people, which accounted for 10.4% of total U.S. employment.

Here’s how that breaks down:
  • On-farm employment: About 2.6 million jobs (1.2% of U.S. employment)
  • Food services, eating and drinking places: 12.7 million jobs
  • Food and beverage stores: 3.3 million jobs
  • Other agriculture-related industries (like textiles, forestry, and food manufacturing): 3.5 million jobs
So - it's not 22 million picking the crop - at best it is part of 2.6 million.

Here is where common sense sees conflicting numbers -

on farm employment - what you are talking about

Undocumented migrants make up a significant portion of the U.S. agricultural workforce—estimates suggest that about 45% to 50% of all farmworkers in the United States are undocumented.

Here’s a quick snapshot:
  • Roughly 4 to 5 million undocumented immigrants are employed in agriculture.

Question - how can 45-50% of 2.6 million be 4 to 5 million. Does not make sense.

My data is incorrect, and your data is accurate. Let's use your data: 2.6 million people work in agriculture, picking fruits and vegetables.

1.4 million represents 40% of 2.6 million.

My question is: If the USA needs to replace 1.4 million undocumented immigrants with legal immigrants or US citizens within 3 months, providing them higher wages and benefits such as family leave, maternity leave, vacation packages, sick leave and healthcare as required by the US government, what percentage of total labor costs is likely to increase?

when 1.4 million are deported within 3 months, we might consider discussing this issue.

NO ONE expects that number of deportations.

It seems very, very unlikely that Trump will deport as many as Obama did. Surely any number BELOW the level of Obama cannot me so terrible.

Yes, I understand - that is what the sources I mentioned were speaking of.

Not a trick question -

what is the purpose of an ICBM?

We have ICBMs. Are we planning an imminent attack with them?

By 2026, the price of tomatoes will reach $7 per pound, avocados will cost $5 each, iPhones will be priced at $3000
Here is another question -
  • iPhone 16: Starts at $799
Do you honestly believe the iPhone is going to increase in price 375%? In one year?

If the price of iPhones remains stable, and the prices of tomatoes and avocados decrease, while borders are secure and all undocumented immigrants are deported, Americans feel safe, peace prevailing globally, there would be no cause for concern.

Americans will feel great again and grant the GOP a supermajority in Congress, leading to the dismissal of 40-60 Democrats, similar to what occurred in 2010.

If you are wrong, no worries. I don't bookmark posts or remember who said what after I log off.

Are we no longer deporting all undocumented immigrants? When did President Trump change the policy regarding the deportation of all undocumented immigrants?

I am predicting that food prices, as well as the prices of other goods, will increase. While the iPhone may not cost $3000 USD by late next year, it is likely to be at least 25% higher than today's prices unless President Trump and China reduce tariffs. Similarly, the price of tomatoes will also increase unless President Trump changes his immigration policy to allow undocumented immigrants to stay in America and pick our tomatoes.

I predict that the conflict between Israel, Iran, and the USA will persist beyond mid-term.

:)

Please post again when Trump deports anywhere near his campaign promises of tens of millions.

Perhaps that's too high a bar. Please post when Trump deports 1/2 of the 20 million or so tat he says that Biden let in, not counting those who were already here.

I think that Obama deported over 3 million.
=========
Make no mistake, I am fine with Trump processing and deporting 95% or more of those who came in illegally under Biden.

On the other hand, it makes little sense to choose to first deport citizens, dreamers and those who have worked here for 10 years without committing violent crimes.

Of course, we have little to worry about. Very few are being deported by Trump. If the numbers are significant, the MAGA base will object to deporting our farm workers, construction workers, fast food workers, hotel workers, landscapers and babysitters.
=======
THAT BEING SAID
ALL Americans, especially Democratic politicians need to applaud the effectiveness of trump's effort in controlling the border and the very, very low number of undocumented folks crossing the border this year.

Are you suggesting President Trump is lying about deportation? Are you saying he either has no plan to deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants or it can't be done?

Trump has no plan to deport 11 million.

Trump understands that many areas of the economy are dependent on undocumented workers.

Trump should celebrate his cvictory with regard to the border and attempt to rid us of recenlty arrived undlumented and those here longer with violent criminal records.
