  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i've seen them twice in concert, amy's voice sounds even better live.

'Live' sound can be deceiving. I've seen a bunch of live footage of her singing. It sounds........labored and out of range.

with that kind of behaviour i would have thought you'd be into that weird goth stuff.

*please note the sarcasm - it was in my mind as i typed, but does not reproduce well in the form of electron induced light - therefore i have attached this long winded disclaimer at the end of the post so that people can clearly see that the post is a joke and that i don't mean to upset anyone, except maybe britney spears fans*

what if it was Amy Lee doing the poking? What if she was singing while she poked? What if you got to say "YOU SUCK!" while she sang & poked?

When I first heard them I thought "who is the chick with linkin park." My friend said the same thing. Not too original and ridiculously overplayed but not BAD really. And I did like My Immortal a lot but I have a thing for a rock band that does a slower mellow song...plus it featured Amy Lee's voice which is very good (and the video featured her.....shes hot).

Yes, I definately give them that. They aren't your average "Waaah, my life sucks, by my album!" band like Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance, and all the other refuse that gets pumped out on the radio today. They never play Whisper on the radio... that sucks. This is why I stick with Rammstein and Nightwish CD's...

About the only song of Evanescence's I can listen to without becoming bored with it after a while is "Anything For You", and that was on one of their EPs (yes, this was pre-Origin). It's heavier on the synths, sounds crisper, has better accompanying guitar work (IMO), and actually betrays a lot of the real Alt. Dance and Electronic Rock influences in their music, which is what I think is what I like about it. It's a shame that much of the stuff on Origin and Fallen doesn't sound nearly as good as this does.

The band actually has condoned people downloading Origin from the internet, so you could try looking around. I found my copy on a BitTorrent site.

Most of the tracks on Origin made it onto Fallen, though. Of course, Origin's mixing is a lot more appealling to me. It's not as beefed up as the mixing on Fallen was.

Ya, I heard Field of Innocence on Fallen and hated it. The Origin version was surprisingly good. I also heard Lies and Where Will You Go? on the net and they rocked too. I don't download music, and I don't know any good CD shopping sites. Although... if you know some, I am looking for a copy of Oceanborn, by Nightwish, and since they don't have it at Best Buy(or anywhere else in this wretched city)...

I just checked. Amazon.com has both of those CDs in their Music section (although the page for Origin was created by a seller, but it is there).

"Field of Innocence" is not on the Fallen album (I know, I own it). You must be confusing it with another song ("Imaginary", perhaps? That one's on Origin).

Another thing: Origin is not an album. Amy herself said this in an interview on MuchMusic. It's actually a collection of demos. Sounds fabulous, though. I wish they had included "Lies" on Fallen. That song is absolutely one of Evanescence's best.
