  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Stivvy.

I saw this and had to chime in. ( I know this is OBOB, so take my protestant opinion for what you think it's worth! :) )

The first movie, Bruce almighty, was pretty funny, and although had blashphemous statments, it did have a good message in the middle of it.

When Bruce said "what good is being all powerful, if you can't make somebody love you?"

And "God" replied "welcome to my world."

However, this second movie doesn't give the same impression.

The one thing (and I can't say much from movie trailers) that bothers me is that God specifically stated he would never flood the earth again. The whole premise of the movie is that God changed his mind, or lied.

just my perspective!

Well I don't think that is the intention of the film.

Here is another good review and background on the Media company promoting it.

How do you know God really floods the earth and distroys it again in this film? I bet He doesn't.

The whole premise of Bruce was that God gave someone divine powers and sole authority over an entire city. The premise is just there to facilitate a good story-telling. We know these things aren't real and would not actually occur. But they are good stories and they do have positive messages.

" The first movie, Bruce almighty, was pretty funny, and although had blashphemous statments, it did have a good message in the middle of it."

"God" addressed the blasphemy and Bruce did learn a lesson from it. The movie didn't glorify blasphemy.

Looks like it is going to be a great comedy!

Anyone going to see it? I heard it got great reviews from Focus on the Family and such Christian organizations.

thats good to hear that Focus on the Family is giving good reviews on it. That means it should be pretty accurate/wholesome. Bc i know Bruce Almighty had some obscene moments in it...that kids didnt get but asked about...lol im hinting at the part with Jennifer Anniston in the bathroom, lol those that have seen the movie should know what i am talking about i am leaving it at that...

I`m going to the movie to. I think of it as a fictional comedy and that`s it. I don`t believe that God looks like Morgan Freeman or that Morgan Freeman is God ;) No more that I believe that Tim Taylor is Santa Claus.

It has a great message. You have to have a sense of humor. When you have a comedy and it has a great message, then I think you should embrace it.

When they are mocking a religion (Monty Python) without a posative message, then you have issues.

It's coming out tomorrow night? Toooooo many movies all at once!!! I think we have seen more movies in the last few months than we usually do in a year . .and they are still coming!

This looks hillarious and I bet it is every bit as good as Bruce Almighty.

I can tell you in Bruce when he was hearing all the prayers of the people coming at him from every-which-way and suddenly you heard an entire congregation pray the Lord's Prayer loud and strong, that hit home with me.

I guess it is back to the movies tomorrow night! (well tonight now since the clock rolled over to the 22nd while posting this) :)
