  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

While at adoration last week, I looked through the area where we have a small section of books for purchase and one was entitled Transforming Your Life Throgh the Eucharist, and I am so ministered to by what the author has shared in this book that I thought others here might be also, so, if it is OK, I would like to share some of what the author has said.
The end of His Passion, death and glorifiation in our nature was that He might forever dwell in His Mystical body, and therefore in us, members of that Mystical Body, the Church.

In this mystery of love inexpressible, Christ unites Himself with us. The purpose of every act of His earthly life was the realization of the most intimate union with man. The Holy Eucharist seals and perpetuates this closest of unions. Hence divine love, the most striking of God's manifestations, stands alone in this august Sacrament, because it is the soul of this mystery.
Transorming Your Life Through the Eucharist, John A. Kane 1941, 1999 edition, pg 6

In the Holy Eeucharist, divine love restrains omnipotence; infinite justice ceases to urge its inexorable claims on sinners. In this mystery, the infinite God is bound by space; the Eternal God is conditioned by time; the divine immensity descends to our littleness; the light of God's unspeakable beauty and majestic glory, which floods Heaven, filling the saints with rapturous delight, conceals its radiant splendor before our weak eyes, and adapts itself to the dimness of our sight, which can behold the unseen only "through a glass in a dark manner." In this mystery, no sacrifice is too great, because every attribute of the infinte Lover of men yields to His intense longing to be one with souls, to thrill them with ecstatic joy, "to inebriate them with the plenty of His house", to lavish upon them His divinity by a condescension so immeasurable, and a humilition so profound, as to elude the grasp of the keenest of even angelic minds.

Oh isn't it just almost incomprhensibly moving!! I was only on like page 10 and I had already gained so much from this book-- thegreat need I have to nake my heart a tabernacle for Him-- to still and quiet myself....
