Good point.
Moral Theory has always been associated with Philosophy.
Protestant fundamentalists have a culture of thinking that "ethics" is different
than "morality". But Philosophy considers moral-ethical (ME) models to be
the same topic.
Philosophy considers ME to be whatever a person believes is "right" or "wrong".
Different ME models may be discussed, or debated.
Christian ME falls under the category of Divine Command models.
Try reading a good book on Moral Theory.
