The Cambridge Dictionary of Philosophy defines it as...

"[Ethics is] is the philosophical study of morality. The word is also commonly used interchangeably with 'morality' to mean the subject matter of this study; and sometimes it is used more narrowly to mean the moral principles of a particular tradition, group, or individual. Christian ethics and Albert Schweitzer's ethics are examples."

Well, that's it. Thread's over.

Actually defining morality and ethics were only 1/2 of what the thread was about.

Even if for some foolish reason we were to yield to the secular understanding of ethics and morality in a Clearly Christian discussion, we would still be able to discuss which is a more viable understanding of rule to live by. The published version of morality or the "heart felt" version of it.
