I've mentioned before that us humans have never experienced eternity; nor do we have clues of eternity in the universe OR on Earth. Therefore I mentioned that mankind could not have come up with the idea of eternity.

Rationalism means believing that most of our knowledge comes from the senses; and our reasoning. You've all heard about the unlit candle. From our five senses the candle has certain characteristics. Light it, walk out, come back an hour later; the candle has different characteristics. A blob of wax is left. All our five senses tell us; that is not the candle that was in the room before you lit it. But our reasoning tells us that that IS the candle; because it took a certain (different) form when we came back an hour later.

That's an example of Rationalism. So therefore; I was wondering if humans about thousands of years ago; before the Old Testament; were smart enough to think in such a philosophical way in order to create the concept of religion and God in order to fool people. I mean Aristotle, Socrates and Plato lived after the Old Testament right? Because if that is true; then obviously humankind would not have thought of such ideas, because Aristotle, Socrates and Plato were pretty much the people who introduced this new way of thinking to us.

I am not threatened by the idea of Jesus MAYBE being a fake and copying the philosopher's ideas in order to MAYBE make up the Bible... (I know; this is just an idea, a very obsurd one and I don't believe it) Because all the things that Jesus would do (crucifixion; Isaiah) were in the Old Testament that was BEFORE Aristotle, Socrates and Plato.

Plus, these guys never wrote anything down! :) Therefore Jesus could not have copied it down; which isn't really a doubt in my head anyways; and I'm just rambling on, so I'll stop.

Thanks,

Christ be with you,

Umut...
