Universalists believe in a sort of purgatory. People suffer, they are punished, but ultimately redeemed. If there is an eternal punishment, then I would think that eliminates universalism.

God is eternal, so the punishment could be eternal separation from God. They could be separated from the Holiness of God. For me, there is nothing better than to worship God and enter into the presence of God in the Holy of Holies. There is an inner court and an outer court. The Gentiles could not enter in, they were only allowed in the outer court.

Our job is to bring praise, honor and glory to God. We are to proclaim that God is good, He wants us to prosper and be in good health.

Romans 1:21-25 from the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible reads as follows:

"21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen."
