From as far back as Abraham, God has identified who qualifies for the grace of eternal life. In Genesis 12:3, God says to Abraham “I will bless those who bless you...in you ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED.” This leads up to Galatians 3:28-29 which says “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.”

There are several verses in the Old Testament which speak of eternal life. Psalms 49:15 says, “But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. Selah.” Isaiah 26:19 says, “Your dead shall live; their bodies shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give birth to the dead.” Psalms 23 says, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

The New Covenant of Grace that Christ mentions in Matthew 26:28 is a link to the Old Covenant that God made with Abraham to the extent of the people who would benefit. Those who benefit are anyone who is in Christ and therefore has the standing of Abraham’s offspring.

In many respects, God’s sending Lord Jesus into the world that all may be saved is the catalyst in fulfillment of Genesis 12:3, and therefore the promise of eternal life that comes with it. Between Genesis 12:3 and the coming of Jesus, God made at least one attempt, through a Covenant with the Hebrews, to drive those in Abraham to accept the Grace of eternal life that God has to offer. I believe that by virtue of Genesis 12:3, God meant for that Covenant to go beyond the Hebrews. It is when the realization became that this Covenant wasn’t going to serve its purpose, since no sooner was it made that many of the Hebrews deviated from it, that God decided on a new approach through Jesus.

So Jesus made his Covenant of Grace with his disciples in Matthew 26:28, and as he predicted, his death would in effect sprinkle his blood far and wide, through his disciples, and the new Covenant would be spread as well. But it starts in faith in God through Jesus, bypassing the deviations that people who ostensibly had their faith in God, had undertaken, so the conveying of the Word of the Lord would be pure. As Jesus said at this point, nobody goes to God except through him.

Some have said that the New Covenant which Jesus speaks of was formulated by Jeremiah 31:31-34 which says, “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” If so, it seems that in the context of the New Testament, whatever Law that may be imprinted on our hearts is a Law of faith instead of a Law of works, with the idea, perhaps, that works stem from faith. And we might say that the whole Bible establishes that with faith in God comes eternal life.

It's about Love (agape love) ... this type of Love comes from God only. The Law is the 10 commandments ... of which within ourselves, by ourselves we can not keep. Hence the necessity for our Savior (Jesus). Thank you Jesus!

What is sin? Transgression of the Law
Who committed the first sin? Lucifer/Satan
Therefore there is and always has been Law in heaven. What Laws are in heaven?

Hebrews 9:4 states that the Ark contained "the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.

Revelation 11:19 says the prophet saw God's temple in heaven opened, "and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple."

Freewill ... God created all His intelligent beings with freewill ... you can not have TRUE Love (Agape Love) without it. You can not force someone to love someone ... God knows this ... we know this.

When Adam & Eve sinned they chose to believe satan's lie(s) over God's truth ... they disobeyed God. They fell out of Love for God.

    Sin brings forth death

    Genesis 3

1Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’”2The woman answered the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden, 3but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’”4“You will not surely die,” the serpent told her. 5“For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.7And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked (made aware of their sin ... how? ... in their heart); so they sewed together fig leaves and made coverings for themselves.

They did not believe (have faith/trust) in what God said. Therefore sin entered into the world and through Adam & Eve we inherit a sin nature ... the human race became polluted with a sin nature through them.

Love (agape love) encompasses all ... faith, grace, trust and it has always been this way.

    1st Corinthians 13:13

    New International Version
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love (agape love).

God's Laws of Love (the 10) has always been written on mankind's hearts. If it weren't so we (and Adam & Eve) would not know what sin is. Adam & Eve knew immediately they sinned (disobeyed) God and attempted to "cover their own sin (nakedness) ... and then what happened? God covered them (clothed them) with animal skins Himself. First prophesy pointing to our Savior to come.

Existing law ... not new ones.

    Hebrews 9:22

And almost all things (except Christ - He didn't need any purifying) are purified with blood according to the Law, and apart from blood-shedding there is no forgiveness.

Before Mt. Sinai knowledge of the Law was passed down orally (how else did Abel know to sacrifice a Lamb?) Did the blood of the animal save him? No ... it was the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) that saved.

How can this be? Because the plan of Salvation was put in place before creation.

    Revelation 13:8

All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

    Romans 6:10

    English Standard Version
For the death he died he died to sin, once for all (once for all times before and since creation), but the life he lives he lives to God.

... on Mt. Sinai the eternal Law (the 10) were written down (by God Himself) ... they are eternal laws ... they are the very character of God ... defines who He is.

The work of the Holy Spirit has been working in the heart's of mankind since creation. The Holy Spirit's work of love is to draw mankind to God and to help them not to sin (help them overcome it) ... and this process is continuous over a person's earthly lifetime (we mess up here and there). It is the work of God (a gift) through the Holy Spirit in a believer and to think we can accomplish it without God/Jesus then we are performing works ... trying to cover our own nakedness (sin) with fig leaves that we made ourselves.

There is nothing wrong with God's laws ... no reason to change them and they have not been changed. The problem is sin in mankind ... we need to be changed and this only happens through the work of love through the Holy Spirit in those who trust and rely on God.

    Philippians 1:6
    King James Version
Being confident of this very thing, that He (Holy Spirit) which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

We live in a fortunate time that we are able to look at biblical history and have His written word thereby are able to better understand how God works out His salvation plan for those who love Him ... believe and trust Him ... love Him.

    Matthew 4:4
But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Every word that comes out of the mouth of God ... whether orally before or when it was written in His Holy Word.

    1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

    John 14:15

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

    The word will ...

We "will" because of the work of love of the Holy Spirit working in us over the course of our lifetime here on earth.

From the beginning ... It's ALL about God/Jesus teaching us about what REAL love is. It's all about LOVE always has been and always will be whether in heaven or on earth.

    1 Corinthians 13:13

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Love is the Greatest and God IS love and He is the greatest! AMEN!

May the our loving Lord bless all.
