  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Orange. Nobody is wanting to argue with you. If you will re-read the OP you will see that I was asking for help in determining what doctrines are essential and which are non-essential based on what the Bible claims. I was not asking for opinions, I was asking for help. Sorry I rubbed your fur the wrong way. it was not my intention. If you would like to offer an apology for your unwarranted remarks, I would be happy to accept it.

And for the person who asked, Yes I have read Hank Hanegraaf's "essentials" at his website. As with a lot of things, Hammerin' Hank got it wrong again.

I would say without a doubt in my mind that Romans 10 contains all the essential doctrine for salavation. This does not include the reason we need salvation but that is found in Romans 5. It is my firm belief that you can teach all the doctrine essential to salvation out of those two chapters. You might drop in Romans 6:23 to be on the safe side.
