I kind of like the statues. They show us that in everything the Lord is with us and wants that personal intimacy we should be sharing with Him. He is, after all, our "best buddy" as well as our Lord and Saviour.

Yuppers. I agree. I don't think that they seem silly at all when you understand the message that they are trying to get across to kids...

Exactly. I agree with Jenna and Bastoune.

It's sending out a message -- a message that Jesus is always with you no matter what you're doing and that his love is always there to guide you in your journey through life.

Personally, I think the statues are nice. I wouldn't mind buying a couple and putting them in my daughter's room...

I think that though the intent may be good, the aesthetic effect falls flat on its face. It makes me cringe. And I can't really look at them without either feeling cynical or cracking up.

If God is a man, that implies He isn't with us every day, because He would be finite.
If kids grow up knowing that God is an omnipresent, omnipotent force, they mightt have a slightly more balanced view.

And besides... Ugh...

I don’t think there are too bad, the message is that Jesus is with us but it seems to only promote that he is concerned with the worldly things in our lives and they do nothing to lift our spirits to contemplate the things of heaven.

I don't mind those statues too much - I had seen them a few months back in a magazine.
I do think the statues lend themselves a bit to the idea that Jesus is our "buddy" who is always smiling and patting the heads of children and I am not a big fan of that sort of theology. I do not think that sort of thinking is entirely wrong, but it does have dangerous risks inherent to it.
