  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My wife and I enjoy watching "tasteful" erotica and sexual instruction videos- they are a great aphrodisiac. It has had nothing but positive effects on our sex life and our marriage. If both of us truly enjoy it, what's the problem?

If you ask me: There's no problem.

As long as all participants are consenting adults, it's okay.

Oh, and of course as long as all parcipants are aware of their responsibilities...

The thing about erotic literature is that it's boring. Videos are where it is at.
Anyone who complains about the exploitation of workers in the porn industry and who has at any time in his or her life shopped at walmart or purchased a pair of nikes is completely without credibility.

Not that I care about exploitation in those areas either, but please, at least be consistent.

Good point - We can't condemn people for doing things wilfully.
Look on the bright side, at least these people have jobs.

I just don't support their jobs by partaking in the literature or videos etc. I have a brain and a fairly good imagination - I can come up with it all and act it out myself.

Thanks for the welcome!

That would be primary concern also--perhaps we should cut out the erotica to be on the safe side. But the instructional videos consist of real couples, so there shouldn't be a problem there.

That would make the exploitation aspect a bit less hairy, but I'm still not sure how it fits with God's design for sexual morality. But then again, we don't just wake up one day and know all about sex just because we have wedding rings.

There's also erotic literature, which involves no actors to be potentially-exploited.

I figure, if there's no exploitation going on, and everyone involved is involved because they want to be, there's nothing wrong with it.

In those cases I believe it should be legal, but I'm not sure if it should be consumed anyway. However, yes, the written word is probably a better method to convey sexual technique. What also about virtual erotica? Do you need real people to make erotic videos anymore?

The problem would be lusting over something NOT the person's spouse.
I think the Bible says something about adultery of the heart with that. Adultery isn't a good thing.

I guess that depends on a person's individual tastes. I think that men generally tend to be more visually-stimulated than women, on average. A good story does more for me than a video.

To some, yes. To others, literotica are interesting because what's not depicted clearly gets imagined... the way you personally find it most arousing. :D

Depends on how much computing power and time (= $$$) you want to pump into it.
Considering the CGI of recent animated movies et al, I'm pretty sure that very realistic erotica can be made that way already. It's - as always - a question of money.
