Hi all

Just to clarify - the CF reforms so far are only partial.

The second phase (and possible 3rd and 4th depending on how things go) are still to come.

Episode 2 will probably include:

1. Release of Moderator's Guidelines to the public - so members know what is expected of staff.

2. Establishment of an staff member (from Alpha) dedicated to investigate complaints about moderators (since this is no longer done via Appeals which is not the right avenue to do this as I have discovered which is why Appeals is only for official warnings now as it is rule-focussed, not people-focussed).

3. An easier way of reporting moderator "abuse" to this Alpha member using a form - again replacing the previous way of doing this via Appeals which as I said is an inefficient and often unfair way of investigating such things.

There may be more to it. We shall see. The above will take some time - but I hope not too long.

I thought there was Gabriel who served as "embassador" or go-between for members and staff. So there will be someone like him again? Better make that 2 or 3 people who will take care of this department!

Actually ... would it not make more sense to also have a representative of the "normal" membership as such a go-between, instead of such a position only being manned by someone from the staff side?

I would liken such to a popular tribune, as in ancient Rome, who would try and represent the concerns of the people (i.e. members) against those from staff!

Yes, Gabe did do this. I thought he was a good representative for this position. He stepped down for personal reasons.

Yes, This person will be like Gabe. Hopefully, Whoever it is, They will not be overwhelmed right away by things.

Yes, I asked the same questions last nite.......................;) ;) ;)

So, how do we appeal a mod edit? Do we need to escalate it to a warning by editing it back to what we want, accept the warning and then appeal?

If you want to appeal a staff edit that was not accompanied by an official warning, you agree to accept the official warning in place of the staff edit notice. Then you appeal. However, if your appeal is denied, the official warning will remain in place. If the appeal is granted, the official would be removed completely.
