I was reading the 18th chapter of the Gospel according to saint Matthew tonight, and I was left wondering why only ecumenical councils (and not local synods) are infallible.

So why aren't local synods infallible?

infallible is not a word we use that much, but basically whatever the Church says is infallible, is infallible (since the Church is the Body and Bride of Christ, with Christ as the Head being guided by the Holy Spirit).
