  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It frustrates me to no end to see such lack of discipline among God's own. The lack of minor things such as punctuation or proper form can only be indicative of a greater problem. The little things like that are what make the difference. You all know this. A Christian forum that shows less effort put in than many secular ones? Is this how we show glory to our Sovereign? Is this how we practice the gift of verse he's given us to edify him? God in Heaven, I hope not.

I've voiced these concerns before, but I've not even heard a rebuttal. I've given it it's own thread now. Perhaps you can tell me why we do not take up these smallest of responsibilities. Yet I ask you this, poet: if so small a chore, why forgo it in the first place when you can hardly read it when you don't? if you care so much about your words, complete them.

Go with God.

I am aware,

Isacc

You are correct, especially if you wish to have God's excellence within your life. Perhaps, it is because of the education system, that teaches the children that they do not have to bother with correct spelling of words. Also the new technology that is out there, e.g. text writing, which teaches these children to spell in abbreviations.
There is a principle in the Word of God, that talks of learning line upon line, precept upon precept; and the jot and tittle principle. I know that the jot and tittle is very important in prayer, so that every aspect of the scripture you use for the prayer need is activated by the specific person of the Godhead that the scripture verse relates to, and comes under their jurisdiction. I know that this concept is not understood by many.
God bless you Isacc.

There is also the issue of practice. I feel if you write more, get the practice, then you will eventually get better with the "Craft" of writing.

By the way, I agree with your opinion on punctuation (and grammar). I agree regardless of the fact that I am no where close to having proper punctuation or grammar....

I think there are two sides to the coin. First there is that of laziness that the lack of punctuation can kill the rhythm and therefore burying the poem.

But there is the other side where the poet intends to leave punctuation out... or place it in incorrect spots for rhythmic clarity. You've read my poems and I don't write in structured stanzas. I've often considered trying to put many of my poems in this way so you can catch the rhythm, but with the spoken word genre the rhythm of the poem doesn't stay the same. I think putting it in stanzas would confuse others as well as make it more difficult for me to get a feel for.

I'm paralleling the two because thats how some people feel about their punctuation, as I do my strucutre -- or lack of structure for that matter.

Heh, I know this is a pet peeve and sensitive issue for you, but it doesn't bother me to read a poem without punctuation... it just gives me more liberty to read it how I see fit ;)
