EO view of Origional Sin

Now that I really think of it...maybe a new thread should be started for this. For I am curious to see what the Catholic teaching on the soul is.

I will have to come back to this tomorrow...I'm getting kinda tired.

Catholic theology, as you and Jason have admitted, does develop. Development is change. How else would you explain the Catholic dogma of Papal Infallibility and Papal supremacy. These developed gradually over 1870 years.

Orthodox Theology doesn't change because we believe in the Holy Catholic Faith which was once delivered by Christ to His Apostles for all peoples and all times. This faith is unchanging and does not develop. This is the very meaning of the word "catholic". It may take some thought as to how to properly express our faith, but our Holy Catholic Faith neither changes nor develops.

chanter, this is clearly an issue of terminology. Catholic faith does not change either, but as we grow to understand it better over time, we do change the expression of it. But the deposit of faith does not change.

Now why are you turning this thread into a Catholic vs. EO debate?
I just had a few simple questions and had no inention of debating, but only growing in understanding - however it seems that you cannot participate in a thread with the word Cathlic mentioned it without degrading the Catholic faith and generally trying to pick a fight.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Let me explain something to you Elizabeth, Phontini ask a question if we had some theology with regards to the creation of the soul and man so I posted her a link. I did not post her any anti Orthodox material. I am sure you are disappointed that we do have theology that compares to Orthodoxy and there is a lot more information on this subject from St. Thomas Aquinas I can link you to as well.

I do not like the way you question my integrity for #1 and for #2 you have got to be kidding me, they way YOU post the way YOU do in OBOB???

I am not the one with an agenda and I really do not need to or care to post here any way I rarely even read anything in this forum. I was only honoring a request.

I am very disappointed in you. You post in OBOB for your own reasons and we have been kind and polite to you and then treat Catholics the way the Protestants treat Catholics in the Protestant room???

From what I have gathered, "Ancestral sin" is the EO equivelent of what Catholics call "Original sin"

I am very sorry to read such comments. Reread what you just posted. Would Christ say these words? Are they loving?

My words have been twisted over at OBOB. If you read my posts in OBOB since August 2003, you will realize that I have not attacked the Catholic Church, but have stood up for her many times.

The websites for Catholic Answers and NewAdvent both have some very anti-Orthodox misrepresentations and serious errors, which have been posted in the OBOB threads. There are other Catholic sites with serious errors. Notice that these sites are run by laity, and not by the hierarchs in both churches who are working toward unity. It seems counterproductive to me. Those references should not be posted here.

Notice in my two posts, I did not attack you nor the Catholic Church. I just presented the truth as I have been taught both by Catholic and Orthodox theologians.

I have really tried to post godly messages and I even pray the Rosary over at OBOB. Michelina and several other OBOB members appreciate my posts and we PM each other quite frequently to discuss issues in more detail. For the same message which you find distasteful, they find very helpful, and see it in the manner in which I intended. I guess it's all a matter of one's perspective.

Furthermore, many times there is no one over at The Ancient Way because they post in other forums to get away from the IDD crowd and all the bashing that goes on. Perhaps I should join them in the other boards.
