That is correct the background narrative is found in the Protoevangelium of James, but this writing is not read liturgically, instead several passages from the OT are read at Vespers that concern the tabernacle and temple and how they were sanctified and then God filled them. Then at Matins, the gospel is from the pericope in Luke where Mary meets Elizabeth and sings her magnifica. Then in the DL, the epistle is from Hebrews concern Temple worship and the Holy of Holies and the gospel is from Luke again, the interaction of Martha & Mary with Christ and ends; “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” The point seems pretty clear. The earthly tabernacle/temple is no longer the dwelling place of God, now it is us - the ones hear the word of God and keep it, and Mary is the personification of this truth.
