My husband and I have been debating what's okay to watch and not okay to watch. I say we should try to avoid evil.. My example, Yu Gi Oh where there are things like "soul catchers" whatnot, the show just seems over all evil to me. Then I was watching Ella Enchanted. It seems like an over all good movie, though she has a spell cast on her in the story. The way I see it, is you can't avoid all evil, but should try.. But I'm wondering if I really shouldn't even watch that. He basically was like "Well, that has evil in it, so it's just as bad.. Why do you bother me about my shows?"

He has seen what I'm saying, and says he won't watch alot of the same things as he use to (like he use to watch horror flicks that he won't now, and he won't watch Buffy, and other things whatnot..). In general though, from what I've noticed (after my view change) about anime's, is they mostly seem evil. Not to say all anime's are evil, but I don't know them all, and I'm going by what I've seen. Also, Christianity's basically forbidden in Japan. He really likes anime's however.. He also says he doesn't even watch them all the time, but anywho.. I use to really be into anime's too, but I can't seem to enjoy them generally anymore.

Like I was saying though, he does agree that there is evil in shows and movies, but he still has his random shows he likes.

We've both decided we watch TV too much or just be lazy too much as a whole and have decided we need to better spend our time. We've started doing that. But when I ask myself "What would Jesus do?" I start to question if he'd watch something with even a little evil in it. I know that there are appropriate times to see the world's evil to be aware and such, but entertaiment is different. I'd really like some comments/guidance. Anything would be helpful.. Thanks!

I like the question: "What did Yeshua do?"
I don't really think watching evil is all that bad. You can learn what not to do from watching those shows and movies. But in some cases it can make you evil, so it really depends on what you can handle. If you can watch a horror movie and realize it's only entertainment and not let it get to you, then watch the movie. If the movie or show makes you do things you wouldn't normally do or shouldn't do, then stay away from that type of entertainment.

If you want to know what I think Yeshua would do. I think he wouldn't bother himself with entertainment weither it had evil or not. He would say it's all unnecessary and would make sure you were happy, healed, and saved.

there are many evil cartoons and shows out there. yu-gi-oh doesnt even portray any sort of positive message. i luved ella enchanted and the difference between that and like harry potter is its in a make believe fantasy world. what about the little mermaid? i wouldnt consider that an evil cartoon. those are simply fantasy tales set in another place and time. however, yu-gi-oh and harry potter are saying that this stuff is happening right now and you can tap into it and join the force...

It doesn't bother me at all. I like anime and will watch it whenever I want. There are more evil cartoons than yu gi oh. On Adult Swim you can see more evil cartoons than Yu gi oh ever was . Actually I find Yu gi oh basically boring that why I don't watch it. But, lets just agreed to disagreed and leave it alone ok!!
