  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone,
I'm entering the final five days of Fr. Michael E. Gaitley MIC's 33 Day Marian Consecration preparation. I'm entering the final five days, after which, I'll renew my Consecration to Jesus through Mary, on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Please pray that these final five days our good and fruitful.

Also, I don't think I need prayers for this bet, I'm now working up the courage to receive Communion while kneeling, I won't go into details but, something at mass spurred me to start working on that. So far, I've only managed to kneel, while next-in-line to receive Communion I haven't yet worked up the courage to receive Communion while kneeling, but hopefully I will some day.

As always, if anyone is wondering what Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary is, go here: What Is Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary? | Christian Forums

I take it your parish doesn't have an altar rail?

I completely understand the desire to kneel. So at the risk of getting into your business, are there any FSSP or ICRSS parishes near you? Those usually have altar rails. I think altar rails are pretty common in Anglican Use parishes as well.

I don't know much about the Eastern Catholic parishes but my assumption altar rails are used there too.

Either way, good on you for the Marian consecration.

I would hope not - we do not have altar rails - and we Receive the Eucharist standing - on Sundays kneeling is penitential and is not permitted as Sunday is a Resurrection Day

Kneeling before the Eucharist is intended as an outward gesture of respect for Jesus since the Eucharist is Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, and since that's who we are encountering in the Eucharist. Penance for our sins is supposed to happen before we walk up to receive Holy Communion.

"Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Philippians 2:9-11
