  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm entering the final week of renewing my Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, for the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

I'm Fr. Michael E. Gaitley's version, so after this week, there will be five final days before I renew my Consecration.

Last week's meditation was on Saint Teresa of Calcutta, and in one of the readings, it mentions doing an examen, in which one reflects on all the gifts God has given that person throughout the day. This is something I should get into the habit of doing because, I did the Consecration for the first time, one of the key things holding me back, was scrupulosity and negative thinking.

So in this prayer request, I want to ask, not only for prayers that I make it through this week well, and that it bears much fruit. But also, that I develop the habit of doing an examen daily for spiritual growth and sanctification.

I thought you made your Consecration in May this year. I always understood that Renewal was yearly - so why are you renewing it now ?
Because I have a devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows, and I think renewing my Consecration under this title will be very helpful, both for my healing and spiritual growth.
