  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My life is getting crazy busy, and I've had enough of citing sources and getting generic replies and people reasserting the same old tired strawmen arguments as if they were accepted as valid the first time. Enough for now. I may reengage later - but I've had enough of the intellectual elitism and folks not willing to engage the topics, but only wanting to insult and put down. I hope and pray other folks get sent in for some battle there -- I don't want the lurkers and newbies to think there are not solid answers -- but I've had enough for now.

I will probably post in this forum once in a while.

I could see starting a few threads in the OT forum for balance....

"Theistic Evolution Hurts Christianity" -- a thread about how the liberal misinterpretation of the Scriptures robs them of authority, accuracy and meaning.

"When does Theistic Evolution fail" -- a thread about how TE fails to fully account for transitional fossils, about how biologists consistently ignore or fight signs of incredible design, about how conventional geology cannot properly explain the fossil record and geologic column because it fails to account for the titanic events required to make deposits miles thick and hundreds of miles or more in size, how fossils which do not agree with the conventional theory are explained away or ignored, etc.

"Creationism is a FACT!" -- God said it. FACT. Explains the evidence better than anything else. FACT. etc.

"How do I ignore evidence (for TEs)?" About the bias in interpreting the evidence, about the bias in universities, about the bias in professional journals, about the ignored evidence for young earth, etc.

"The fate of TE as a scientific theory" -- talking about how the more we know about nature the more it becomes PLAIN that this is a wonderfully designed world. About the growing number of scientists who are not willing to blindly accept evolution, etc.

"Why are we so hard on TEs?" About the problems of compromising Scripture, about the perils of ignoring the evidence, about the problems associating intellectually with atheistic notions, about the side effects in evolutionary theory throughout the other sciences, as well as throughout our culture, etc.

"When is it time to abandon a sinking ship (TE)? When it stands against the truth -- both of Scripture and the evidence.

I'm not setting this up as a rule -- I may well post in various places. But for sure my mood right now is to not post much for a good long while -- and to stay away from the disrespect and intellectual elitism and insults in the OT area.

{Acts 19:8-9} And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. {9} But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

I don't think even Paul would waste his time casting pearls before swine and giving that which is holy to the dogs. Like him, I would urge you to find a school of one Tyrannus.

There are three conditions which disqualify an audience from hearing the Gospel and things concerning the Kingdom of God:
1. being Hardened,
2. Believing not,
3. Speaking Evil of the Way before the Multitude.
When the discussion is turned into a vehicle for speaking evil of the way then it is time for the godly to end their participation.

Please don't worry about it, if God's released you from this tour of duty be thankful and enjoy it. :D That's the beauty of the God we serve, if this is important to Him He's already got someone pegged to step in for you. Although he/she better be good because they'll have big shoes to fill. :prayer:

Please do because I always appreciate your posts.

Some awesome and interesting titles there, but as you've already surmised they wouldn't make a difference. :sigh:

That's exactly what I've been saying for a couple of months now yet somehow I'm still here. God hasn't released me just yet; it sure isn't for lack of asking though. :)

Thanks - and thanks floodnut too. I appreciate the words of encouragement. I'm sure you caught that the threads were the mirrors of threads that were started against YEC. I always found the titles rather insulting and unloving, so I wouldn't really start such threads.

I enjoyed your company, you were a good friend, and this post was perhaps one of your best, and most amusing. :)

I also think, that it would be a good idea to post threads with such parodic titles, that present the alternative argument to those TE threads.

I also would like to apologize, since I was the originator of many of those "catchy" thread titles,
I did so to stir the pot a little, but I meant to do so with a kind heart, though it may have seemed otherwise.

I appreciate your apology. Like I said a couple of posts ago, I would not post the counter threads myself because to me, they were disrespectful and insulting, not just "stirring the pot".

Lord Bless, and may He lead you into all truth. When we are both with Him, if I'm wrong about YEC, first round of sasparilla at the bar is on me.

This place is like a drug sometimes.... I feel like I get dragged back. ;)

Don't feel lonely my friend, I'm in the same boat. I did manage to drag myself away from the Creation/Evolution common area but I keep coming back here.

Just know when you need a break and remember there is a reason the argue with such intensity. No matter how hard they argue they are still outnumbered by people who do not reject God in their formal reasoning.

Drop me a PM anytime I can help.

Grace and peace,
Mark
