  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Need some help from the English people here.

The ladies in my Anglican Church host a traditional English Tea for the community every year as a fund raiser.

One of them asked me to ask you all what are the traditional English foods they should be serving.

The lady that asked for the help is actually from England, but has been living here in the USA for about 30 years.

So, does anyone have some good ideas?

Are you talking about an Afternoon english tea or an evening English tea? :)

If it is an Afternoon english tea then I would say that traditionally that you would serve thin sandwiches with either salmon, egg mayonnaise or if you want to go up market try cucumber or cress sandwiches with the crusts cut off.

Also scones with jam and cream( the best cream would be Devon clotted cream) and maybe a range of small cakes and shortbread biscuits.

They go very well with Devon clotted cream.

Unfortunately what passes for clotted cream on this side of the world bears no resembalance to the real stuff.
