Engaged Yesterday

I became engaged yesterday. I am very happy. I love Caleb very much. We had spoke about having the wedding next Autumn. I already am looking at pictures of autumn weddings. I am nervous but excited to be a wife. Its what I wanted my whole life. I know I am a wounded person but I know Caleb's love will help me heal, as well as God's love.

"Its what I wanted my whole life." Be careful with that one, its an expectation that will eventually disappoint you. Expectations are pre meditated resentments.

" I know I am a wounded person" Have you resolved those issues first? Going into a marriage with excessive baggage will eventually tear it apart.

"Caleb's love will help me heal" Healing is an inside job, it doesn't come from the outside. Again, that sounds like an expectation that when it goes unfulfilled will only lead to disappointment. I would suggest pre marriage counseling and lay it all out on the table before each other. You probably already know what you two agree on but do you know what you don't agree on? I have seen many marriages fail because of hidden assumptions that weren't addressed before the marriage.

Thank you for your words. I agree that I need to be careful of my expectations. I know I have a bad past. I have a history of being kidnapped. He is aware of that and I am in counseling for it. I agree that pre marriage counseling will be very good for us. That is something I will look into soon. God bless you.

Thank you so much Sarah Your words made me smile I agree an autumn wedding would be very nice for the clothes, colors, flowers and styling. Those are things I am thinking about now I am looking at pictures and getting ideas
