  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone

I'm in my first relationship of 5 months now and given how much i already know about her, i'm wondering... what reasons do couples find for breaking up after years of going out (im talking about dating before marriage, and excluding cheating)? I dont understand how after going out with someone for four years or something they can just decide that they're not right together... surely any compatibility problems will come up before then?

Thanks
Chris

Well, I can tell you alot of times people change and grow apart. You're 17 and you will do most of your changing, in your life, in your 20's. I GUARANTEE you when you're 30, you will look back to when your this age and won't even understand why you were the way you were & why you decided to do different things you did, because you will be a totally different person.

So, alot of times, two people just grow apart and want different things.

I, remember, when I was 26, I had a boyfriend and we, both, didn't ever want kids.....so we were happy for 2 1/2 years. I turned 28 and all of a sudden, I changed my mind and wanted kids.....he still didn't, we tried to make it work for 6 more months, but ultimately realized we didn't want the same things anymore.

well, for me, my ex and I dated for 3 years..He wanted to break it off because 1. he felt we were too young to have such feelings 2. he didnt want something THIS serious or intense at such an early age (when we broke up, he was 17, and I was 18).

Too long term in some couples brings out their true self too and sometimes we know that some of us aren't meant to be,many changes happen within the first year even of a relationship. I almost married this year and decided we needed time to understand eachother's lives better. He's a writer and photographer, gone alot. It takes a toll on us.
