The bible is very clear on a sequence of events that need to happen - the fulfillment of prophecy . I'm no expert on this stuff, although for some reason God has lead me to have a big appetite for knowledge about the end times.
There are a ton of scholars out there who will push their own point of view. Rapture or no rapture? Pretrib, mid trib, or post trib rapture? Physical antichrist represented as one man, or many antichrists? Will Christ physically return?
I personally believe there will be a rapture (pre trib), Christ will return, and the antichrist is one bad dude that will eventually come to power. There are some compelling arguments made on almost all views by some very well known scholars. But I really like the consistency of the scholars who go back and interpret the original biblical text and define source words. It really opens up a whole new window to understanding how the end times will come into play. Things like ancient names for geographical locations that still exist today, how the antichrist is described and where he will come from and the timelines described in the Bible. We don't know when the tribulation will start or when the antichrist arrives on the scene, but once it starts, the timeline is awfully darn clear.
And the technology does exist to mark and number every single human being easily and without great expense. Some of you have it in between your dog's shoulder blades, and tests were planned for our soldiers for battlefield medical teatment purposes. Not sure where that's ended up. There are numerous options available to do this, and with microtechnology, more options will emerge. This technology isn't evil - it was generally created for good. But at some point the method of marking billions of people will be clear and achievable.
I encourage each of you that has a heavy interest in this to start researching. Crack the books, read the scriptures, take notes. Attend seminars with well known speakers if you've got them in your area. Read rebuttals and counter claims by other authors and scholars. Seems like everyone is saying, "watch for the signs, they're out there". But "signs" can lead to false conclusions, so don't make assumptions based on current geopolitical structures because things change with every war, coup, and election. I think it's better to ask "what if", but recognize things can change in an instant. God clearly wants to keep some things a secret, for now. And be really, really careful of authors and speakers who clearly take scripture out of context.
I'm more interested in watching what geopolitical forces are going to take shape to open the door for the antichrist's rise to power. I think he's alive today, based on the a loose timeline that started with Isreal reestablishing itself as a nation. As for his rise to global domination? Something cataclysmic is going to have to happen to make that possibility real. The only thing that convinces me that the world would be so willing to allow one man to rule over them is that the rapture throws entire nations into confusion, economies collapse, and there is a strong need for worldwide "leadership". I just don't see the nations of the world today allowing this type of rule. So many are far too independent and want to protect their sovereignty.
I'm also very, very interested to see how the US fits into all this. From what I've seen in scrpture, we're pretty much a non-issue in the end times although we are mentioned once in an indirect manner. Seems strange that the world's supreme military and economic power doesn't come into play, unless you believe a very large portion of our population simply disappears. It's not about us anyway, everything seems to center on Isreal as ground zero.
Great club, I'll visit here often. I look forward to some open discussion on this!
Maybe the moderator can delete posts that don't center on discussion, just to keep it clean and readable? I hate having to migrate through 3 pages of posts to find a few discussions. I'm not insulting anyone here.
