Hey guys,
A non-Catholic brother posted the following comments in response to a another non-Catholic. I think you guys may enjoy this:

You say there is nothing going on with the Catholic Church, which is just hard for me to understand. The Catholic Church has existed and grown for 20 centuries, and it will be here 20 more. How many nations or religious peoples can claim such longevity? I can't think of any Church that can claim to hold a candle to the hospitals, orphanages, and missions to the poor that the Catholics build. What evangelist in history was more successful than St. Francis Xavier? Who rebuilt Europe after Rome crumbled? Who established Christianity as the dominant religion of the West? Which is the largest religion on the planet, and who brought it about?
On the local level, Catholics are about families and communities. They are about the nurture and formation of Christian familes and help for the poor of the community.
On the institutional level, Catholics developed a successful system of parochial schools and some of the best universities to educate both the faithful and to perpetuate a Christian worldview in society and culture. Catholics have had a huge impact on the justice system and politics of the West (even the political concept of the "Just War" is a Catholic theology). Who leads the war for human rights and the rights of the unborn?
The head bishop of the Catholic Church (John Paul II) conspired with Ronald Reagan and his Cabinet (which was virtually made up of all Catholics) to assit Poland's Solidarity movement, and hasten the demise of Communism. The book "Witness to Hope: The Biography of Pope John Paul II" by George Weigel explores the life and mission of this well-respected head bishop of the Catholic Church and documents God's great works in the life of this servant of the Kingdom.

This is awesome stuff! Now I think I'll get my hands on that biography!! =)
God bless!
