• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Salvation in a Muslim Stronghold

(A recent testimony from Church of God missionaries Neil and Jennifer Lawrence)

The Lord of the Harvest has given us this time to push forward into the fields which are ripe. Now is not the time to shrink back from the plow; it is the time to press forward and win the prize. Kenya is a country on the edge of the 10/40 window that is about 7 percent Muslim.
After suffering several suicide attacks—the jihadists easily transiting across the border of neighboring countries—Kenya remains a hideout and an easy target for Muslim extremists. Yet, in Likoni where 10 mosques surround the crusade venue, 80 people were saved.
As I prayed for a demon-possessed woman in the altar, the evil spirit was speaking in English and refusing to leave her. I realized immediately the evil spirit was trying to intimidate me, since this woman and most of the people there speak Swahili. The evil spirit left her because of the power of Jesus!
Another woman was hearing voices telling her to commit suicide. Even though she lived far away, she heard the gospel message, came to the meeting and got saved. At another venue there were Muslims preaching using horn speakers. Our sound equipment was so powerful it drowned out their attacks on Christianity.
On the final night a Muslim man walked past the venue until he was five miles behind where our speakers were pointed. The Lord spoke to him, “Go back to that altar and give your heart to me.” He returned and accepted Jesus!

Ethiopian Woman Raised from the Dead after 12 Hours—Tells about Heaven

by Aimee Herd : Jan 29, 2008 : Dan Reany – 700 Club
http://cbn.com/vod/index.aspx?s=/vod/DR10v2

"I came back, because it was the will of God for me to live with my children. But I would be very happy to go back there. Now I have seen when a Christian dies, he goes to a better place…."

ScreenShot005.jpg
(Ethiopia)—Fatuma Shubisa, had married an evangelist, and had converted to Christianity from Islam. But the Ethiopian mother-of-nine fell sick and, after some time, she was found to have passed away by her mother who had come to care for her. (Photo: CBN)

There was great mourning in the small village of Alelu, as Fatuma's death was made known among friends and family members. But word of Fatuma's passing also reached the ears of a Christian missionary named Warsa Buta, who was in the area.

Acting on a promise he says the Lord gave him the day he was saved—that God would raise the dead through him—Buta sought out the deceased woman.

A non-Christian crowd gathered as Buta the missionary continued to pray over Fatuma's sheet-covered body. They asked, "Why is this Pentecostal man praying over a dead body?"

Warsa related what happened next, "I had faith the Lord would work through me. I prayed as Peter prayed. 'Fatuma, be raised. I ask you in the name of the Lord. Come to life.' When I prayed that prayer—'Fatuma, rise in the name of Jesus'—she sat up in the bed."

It had been 12 hours since Fatuma had died.

"…Immediately I found myself in my body," explained Fatuma, "I sat up in my bed and started asking, 'What is this? What's happening? What's going on?' Then everybody was surprised. Some were commenting, 'A Pentecostal man can call back a dead soul to a body? If this is real, then we all will become Christians.' And they were shouting."

During the time she was deceased, Fatuma apparently experienced some wonderful glimpses of Heaven, and of family members who had gone before, which she talks about on the CBN video report.

HEALING IS THE CHILDREN’S BREAD

Foundation Scripture: Mark 7:24-30 (NKJ)
24From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden. 25For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet. 26The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27But Jesus said to her, "Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs."28And she answered and said to Him, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children's crumbs." 29Then He said to her, "For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter." 30And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed.

Healing is the children’s bread. Bread is a basic food. Every country and every culture has its own kinds of bread. The bread may look different and taste different from culture to culture, but around the world, most people eat it every day. Even if people are quite poor and don’t have much to eat, bread is usually one of the few foods they do eat.

Galatians 3:26-27 (KJV)
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

We are children of God, because of Jesus, because we believe in His sacrifice, which He made on the cross of Calvary. Jesus paid the price on the cross for sins and for sickness and disease. He took them both into His own body and died, once and for all removing sin and sickness from those who believe.

Healing is as much part of God’s plan for us, as is salvation. Healing is a basic right of every child of God - just as it is a basic right of every person to have and eat bread. So many times, people wait for God to decide, one day, in the sweet by and by, whether or not to heal them. The only problem with that is that it won’t get you anywhere. That is because God has not only already done His part, but He has communicated His will and His plan with us through His word. If we are ignorant of the fact that healing is ours now, it is because we have not read or received His word.

Acts 10:38 (NKJ)
38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
Healing is part of your heritage – child of God. Sickness and disease are from the devil, but healing is the children’s bread.

Revelations 22:2 (NKJ)
2In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Healing and divine health is, and always was the normal state of anyone who belongs to God. Adam and Eve were not even able to get sick, before sin destroyed their and their children’s bodies. Because of Jesus, we once again have the right and the privilege to walk in divine health. Just as we received Jesus as our Savior, we must receive Him as our Healer. We are not waiting for some sovereign move of God to heal us, but God is waiting for us to receive the revelation that healing is the children’s bread!

Amazing Scene as 200 Kenyan Children, On Their Own Initiative, Pray for their Country and Get Miraculous Results
by Michael Ireland : Feb 1, 2008 : ASSIST News

Ever since the children started praying together, the pastor says there have been no deaths, houses burned or even violence in their section of this slum. Adults recite this fact in amazement. The children, however, don't even mention it because it's exactly what they expected to happen. "Pastor told us that there is power in prayer. (Kenya)—In the latest edition of Missions Catalyst, Sue Sprenkle, an overseas correspondent for the International Mission Board, who has been reporting from Africa for 10 years describes a scene inside the small, tin shack of a Baptist church filled with children. "After three weeks of post-election violence, it's good to hear the sounds of children laughing and playing—especially in the hard-hit slums of Nairobi," she says.
"My heart overflows with emotion as I hear a sound even more precious than laughter—a child's sweet, innocent prayer."

"Father, our country is in trouble. We pray for peace to come," an 11-year-old boy prays. "Protect us, Father. Teach people to love one another and not to fight anymore."

For the last two weeks, Sprenkle says, children in this small slum area have gathered to pray for their country. "The church's pastor says the children started gathering on their own, so he let them in the church. The daily prayer meeting now attracts more than 200 children ranging in age from three to 17."

Ever since the children started praying together, the pastor says there have been no deaths, houses burned or even violence in their section of this slum. Adults recite this fact in amazement. The children, however, don't even mention it because it's exactly what they expected to happen.

"Pastor told us that there is power in prayer. He said we can change the country through prayer," 12-year-old Boniface explains. "So that is what we are doing, changing the country."

Sprenkle comments: "I'm amazed at the depth of understanding these children have of the issues surrounding the Kenya post-election chaos."

The 12-year-old prays for President Mwai Kibaki and opposition leader Raila Odinga to sit at one table and talk peacefully. Votes cast in the election for these two candidates are under contention. The two leaders have yet to talk to each other in an effort to bring the strife in Kenya to a peaceful resolution.

Sprenkle explained that UNICEF estimates that more than 40 percent of the displaced are children. "Parents put their children on trucks headed to the camps for displaced people but stayed behind to protect their houses and belongings. Many sit in camps, unable to attend schools that just opened mid-January," she said.

In her story, Sprenkle notes that another young boy prays for the people hurting others who are not from the same tribe, referring to reports of ethnic animosity throughout the country. He asks God to help them all be brothers and sisters and one people.

The pastor smiles and whispers to me, "A few days ago that one asked if I knew what tribe he was. I told him no. He didn't know, either. So he told me, 'I think I belong to the tribe of Kenya.'"

When it's time for the "babies" to pray, a fearless four-year-old clasps his hands and closes his eyes so tight that his entire face scrunches up, Sprenkle writes. "God, people die," he says in prayer. "Please do not let anyone die in front of my house."

"It's now my turn to pray and close the meeting," says Sprenkle, adding: "There's not much left to say, so I thank God for the innocent prayers of children and their faith in His answers."

"As soon as I say 'Amen,' the church buzzes with little voices and bottled-up energy spurts out freely. Laughing and holding hands, the children rush into the rain and head home.

"Even though it's dry season and the rains are not supposed to come for another month, no one complains about getting wet or muddy. The rain is an answered prayer."

Sprenkle says the children had prayed about a three-day countrywide protest called by the opposition party. They had asked God to take control and keep people from dying.

She adds that because of the rains, turnout for the protest was much smaller than expected. While there was still a lot of property damage, it was much less than predicted. Death tolls for the week were the lowest since the incidents started.

"See," seven-year-old Natasha whistles through her missing two front teeth, "God answers prayers."

Francis Frangipane:

"A Door Opens Before Us Into His Presence--When We Behold How HE LOVES US"

"Our healing comes when we behold how He loves us."
Our capacity to actually dwell in Christ's presence is based upon knowing the true nature of God. If we see Him as a loving Father, we will draw near; if He seems to be a harsh judge, we will withdraw. Indeed, everything that defines us is influenced by our perception of God.
If we do not believe God cares about us, we will be overly focused on caring for ourselves. If we feel insignificant or ignored by God, we will exhaust ourselves by seeking significance from men. However, once we realize that God truly loves us, that He desires we draw near to Him, a door opens before us into His presence. Here, in the shelter of the Most High, we can find rest and renewed power for our souls.

God's love is not a reality distant from our needs. The Bible reveals that the Lord is touched with the feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15). He feels the pain of what we experience on earth. He participates in the life we live, for "in Him we live, and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28). He is not removed from our need; we are His Body. He is one with us.

The truth is, we are not alone in our battles. However, if we believe we are alone--if we accept the lie that God does not care--our darkened thinking will isolate us from the loving commitment of God.

Beloved, even in our times of rebellion, the heart of God is not far. Consider the Lord's relationship with Israel. Though Israel had sinned and was suffering oppressive consequences, the Lord wasn't far. We read that when the Lord could bear the misery of Israel no longer (Judges 10:16), He raised up deliverers. God wasn't distant; He was with them, actually bearing their very misery!

At Lazarus' tomb, Jesus wept. Jesus knew He was going to raise Lazarus; He knew it six days before He called Lazarus back from death. He wept because they were weeping.

Do you know that the Spirit of God actually feels our heartache? He is with us in our conflicts and near us in our fears. At the tomb of Lazarus, some would suggest that Christ's weeping was really over the unbelief of His disciples. I think not. When the Lord wept over Lazarus, those who saw Christ saw a man touched by the sorrows of others. They remarked, "Behold how He loved him!" (John 11:36).

Our healing comes when we behold how He loves us. We are raised from the dead when He comes to our tomb and calls us by name out of death.

We must personalize God's love. He gave His Son for my sins, His word for my guidance, and His Spirit for my strength. If the Almighty is for me, who can be against me?

Dear friend, with wide-eyed wonder, let us behold how He loves us, and be healed of our isolation.

Pre-born Twins Save Mom's Life by Kicking Away Tumor

(United Kingdom)—In an amazing account in today's Daily Mail, the story is told of how a mother's unborn twins actually saved her life while they were still in the womb. (Photo: Daily Mail)

UK resident, Michelle Stepney and her husband Scott, were expecting twins. However, at about 17 weeks into the pregnancy, Michelle was rushed to the hospital with what they suspected was a miscarriage. What it turned out to be shocked them.

Doctors at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London told the couple that Michelle had actually had cervical cancer, but that the twins' kicking feet had dislodged the tumor! The bad news came as the Stepneys' physicians urged Michelle to begin immediate chemotherapy treatments, and undergo a hysterectomy—which would terminate the lives of her two unborn daughters.

"If I hadn't been pregnant with the twins, the cancer may not have been discovered until it was too late," Mrs. Stepney explained. "I knew I could have an operation straight away and it would cure me of the cancer, but that would mean getting rid of my babies and I couldn't do that."

The Stepneys refused to end their babies' lives and waited till they were born to have the needed surgery. Now the twins are healthy girls who have just celebrated their first birthday, and their mother is cancer-free.

A Sign of Hope amid the Devastation

(Castalian Springs, Tennessee)—After the worst track of Tornadoes in two decades roared through several Southeastern U.S. states this week, rescuers and survivors were left sifting through the rubble of what used to be homes, straining for a glimmer of hope.

There were indeed some amazing tales of survival, such as the news out of Union University, where student residents took shelter in bathrooms, and no lives were lost, although the dorms were ravaged.

babykyson.jpg
However, the miraculous story of 11-month-old Kyson Stowell seemed to be the glimmer of hope—albeit bittersweet—that the hard-hit communities were looking to, as the healing process began. (AP Photo/Mark Humphrey)

Firefighter David Harmon knew the field in which he searched had already been combed for survivors. Where houses once stood, now there were only naked slabs of concrete; the remnants of everyday lives strewn across the grass like litter.

But it was in the midst of this devastation that Harmon suddenly caught sight of a tiny body. Against all odds, he leaned down and checked for a pulse. "It looked like a baby doll," he said. "He was laying there motionless…and [then] he took a breath of air and started crying."

Little Kyson's mother, Kerri's lifeless body was found in the same field. Her fiancé remarked, "She would have given her life trying to protect that baby." In fact, she may have done just that.

Kyson was discharged from the hospital, into the care of his grandparents, with only scrapes and bruises. Douglas Stowell, his grandfather said, "If it had been both of them, I couldn't have handled it."

Funeral Plans Canceled When God Miraculously Heals Woman From Massive Brain Hemorrhage

rae.jpg
(Lake Elmo, Minn.)—On January 16th, a CT scan documented the fact that 65-year-old Raleane "Rae" Kupferschmidt had suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage. (Gazette photo by Andrew Wallmeyer)

"The doctor came out in less than 20 minutes and told us there's nothing they can do," said Rae's husband Alan. "There was no brain activity. She wouldn't come out of this.''

As requested in Rae's living will, her family subsequently had her life-support machines removed, said their good-byes, and began making funeral preparations. But God had other plans. As the hours passed into days and Rae continued in a coma, her family moved her home where she had hospice care. A short while later, Rae's daughter, Lisa Sturm, noticed that her mother was becoming more aggressive in sucking on the ice chips she was feeding her.

"Mom, Mom. Are you in there?" she asked. When Rae mouthed the word "yes" and nodded, Sturm said they were stunned.

"You're not going to be thirsty or hungry if you're brain-dead,'' Sturm said. "It was time to get the train turned around because hospice is a one-way track to the funeral home, and Rae's not ready to go."

The doctors were amazed and continue to be amazed at Rae's continued improvement.

According to a report in the Stillwater Gazette, Rae says Lisa asked her numerous times if she was seeing any angels she recognized. Rae replied, "They're not here to take me home; they don't want me. They're here to help me."

Says Lisa: "She kept saying the house was filled to capacity with souls that she didn't know, but they were all angels, and they were here to heal her."

Rae explains her survival so: "I've been the recipient of God's grace, and given a second chance in life. God is not done with me yet. I'm not finished with my purpose," she said. "I don't know what God's purpose is in continuing my life, but I know I will dedicate my life to His work, whatever that is."

Resurrections in India Draw People to Jesus

by Teresa Neumann : Feb 21, 2008 : J. Lee Grady - Faith News

"During my 26 years as a journalist I've interviewed some interesting people and heard some amazing stories. But this week set a new standard when I met two people in southern India who experienced Biblical-style resurrection." -J. Lee Grady

(India)—J. Lee Grady, Editor of Charisma magazine, recently interviewed two people who were raised from the dead during an evangelistic meeting in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Says Grady: "During my 26 years as a journalist I've interviewed some interesting people and heard some amazing stories. But this week set a new standard when I met two people in southern India who experienced Biblical-style resurrection."

The first person Grady interviewed was six-year-old Jyothi Pothabathula. Her father, Suribabu, explained that while enroute to the crusade Jyothi stopped breathing. Suribabu carried her lifeless body to the stage where evangelist Harry Gomes was praying for the sick.

"I know Jesus is a great God because he raised my daughter to life," said Suribabu. The miracle prompted his brother and two other family members to give their lives to Jesus. (Photo: Indian Christians praying-Bibleleague.org)

The other resurrection occurred at a Harry Gomes crusade also, when 45-year-old Mesheck Manepally collapsed at the meeting and began foaming at the mouth. His son, Varaprasad, flagged down an ambulance to take his father to the hospital, but when Gomes heard of the emergency he stopped preaching and walked through the crowd of 100,000 attendees to pray for Manepally. By then, the report notes, he had no pulse and his body was stiffening.

According to the report in FaithNewsNetwork, "Gomes laid his hands on the man and prayed for his life to return. Within a few minutes, Mesheck sat up in the back of the vehicle with a dazed look on his face. 'People started telling me, 'You were dead and now you are alive!' Mesheck said. 'I was confused and I started crying. I was so thankful.'"

Mesheck's wife, Laxmi, is quoted as saying Hindu villagers came to see her husband for 10 days after the incident. "They came to view him as a Lazarus," she said. "The people were saying, 'Their God is the true God.'"

"Every time it happens it boosts the people's faith," said Gomes, who has witnessed five resurrections during his 14 years of doing crusades. "In the Bible we are told that the crowds came not just to see Jesus but to see Lazarus. As the word about these miracles spreads, everyone's faith is elevated."
