My daughter, Emily, is 5. She always does some unintentional, beautiful thing that makes me smile. Here are a few from this Christmas season.
We were practicing Away in a Manger for her Christmas program at church. When we get to the 2nd verse, she sings "The cattle are glowing..."
Every time we pass a radio tower at night she gets excited wondering if the red flasher is JUST a radio tower...or maybe it's Rudolph's nose!
She constantly worries about how the mail lady will find Santa's house in order to deliver her letter...she thinks maybe she should draw her a map so she won't get lost.
It's really a beautiful thing to see her enjoy the season the same way I did when I was a kid. Full of magic and wonder and excitement. And it's even more beautiful when she says things like "What kind of birthday gift do you think Jesus would like, Mama?" I tell her, "All He wants is you, baby." Then, with her childlike reason, she says, "But don't you think he'd like a toy dinosaur or something?"
I love seeing the world through her eyes.
Love, Heather
