The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bad flash backs tonight. I dont want to lie down and try to sleep again, its too close tonight. Hiding down the other end of my bed. Away from where it happened. I've wrote on myself and tried to breathe deeply, feeling a lil better but scared to try and sleep again. 3 more days till I get to go away and I get my room painted. Holding onto that freedom.

I'm glad for you that you are getting some healing and growing.
You are doing the right thing in getting help from a counselor, taking meds as prescribed, and using this forum as a Christian support group. Yay!

Actually no one but you can know when you are ready to handle memories. Disassociation has been my best friend since my twin died in November. Slowly now I am beginning to feel again but I still resist it. You will know when you can talk about it and do it safely. I know that disassociation is not the best thing for us but I think God gives it to us to allow us to heal --no matter how long that takes.
