I generally don't listen to music where every other word is a cuss word. I know that not all of his music is bad. Some of his newer music is better than his older music from what I hear. But in my opinion, some of his songs should be boycotted by Christians.

Honestly, as far as phrasing and actual rapping skill, I've never heard anyone as good as Eminem. His song topics, however, are often negative and shocking to the point of being silly. Still a step up from most rap lyrics, though.

313 was an alright song, but I never really got into Eminem. Did you know that everything looks bigger in the rear vision mirror? I think Eminem won one rap olympics and came second in scribble jam one year. Now he says stupid things for the sake of rhyming them...

"Gotta talk alot of hum-hei-la-da-da-der
Oochie walla-walla-mmm-de-da-da but you gotta gotta"
- Eminem

I mean comeon, you can't even say he was raw and then fell off. He was never that good to begin with.

That said, it's not fair to come into your thread and start bashing Eminem, so we should point out that he has made some good tracks :p. 313 and The way I am (I think it's called that ) are some of my favourites.

Have you ever listened to or heard anything from 2Pac...?

Yes, but not much. He's also quite good. Honestly, I'm probably not that great a judge of these things, since I really don't like rap for the most part. But from what I have heard, and what I know, Eminem's phrasing is as good as I've seen.

Honestly, Em is one of my favorites, though I don't listen to him for the sake of listening to him.

While I don't agree with everything the Eminem does/says, my heart is broken for him. Listening to a few of his songs and you can tell how lost he is and how hurt he is. God is calling out to his hardened heart, and someday Em will hear God's still, small voice and will respond. When that happens, I will truly be blessed.
Eminem has a voice.... he has amazing talent, unfortuantely, they are both not being used to the potential God designed them for. Even writing this post makes my heart break for him.

He could have such a huge impact on the world... if only he learned of his Father in heaven, and how much he loves him.

Em has gone through a lot of **** in his life..... and God could use him so mightly....

Back in 99 the Hip Hop station here had a Radio Show and he was on the bill with other acts like The Roots, Snoop Dogg, XZIBIT. I really went to see the Roots and Snoop, I love the Roots and I couldn't pass up on seeing Snoop. But Eminem was big at all back then and after his set he was walking around and my friend Aaron ending up chatting with him for a few minutes. He was very nice and nothing like his on stage persona, much like Marilyn Manson. I don't know how much success has gone to his head now, but like I said at the time very down to Earth. You gotta remember both Manson and Eminem are entertainers and don't mean 25% of the things they say, much in the way that Manson, from what interviews I've seen, has come across as a normal well educated man. They just know how to push buttons and sells records.

Eminem has an AWESOME gift and I have yet to see anyone as talented as him. Unfortunately....the bottom line is that we're created to worship. It says that in Isaiah. No matter what we do..whether it's brushing our teeth, checking the mail, making breakfast...we're worshipping...and there are only two ways to worship. That's how secular music has to be judged..and Eminem's music isn't exempt from that rule. I still listen to secular music and I know that sanctification is a process....and we all get to a point where stuff that isn't of the Lord falls out of our lives as a result of us moving closer to God. Slowly I'm moving away from secular music and listen to almost none of it now. But yeah anyways my point is that it's cool if believers are into Eminem or whatever..that's between them and the Lord. But we at least gotta know what we're doing. Garbage in garbage out.:D

There's the problem then.

I believe that Eminem raps about a lot of things to raise eyebrows, create media attention upon himself and sell records. All that is contradictory of how 2Pac did it. Not only did 2Pac have the most thought out and greatest lyrics of any rap artist ever, he was real and what he said was real. He didn't need to create any attention upon himself by slamming homosexuals or talking bad about his mom to be "cool". Eminem's talented, but any true rap/hip-hop fan knows Eminem isn't the most talented ever. Most overrated by the media and MTV? Yes.
