  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not at all. Half the people I know, of all ages, are determined not to die on this grey and miserable Isle. Then again, hating Britain is one of Britain's favourite pass-times, along with queueing and binge drinking...I gather in other countries there's this weird thing called 'patriotism'? :p

But seriously, I don't get why there should be any moral requirement to feel a special connection to "your" nation. If you do, great, that surely helps you find a meaningful place in the otherwise transient and meaningless flux of existence. If not, so what? As long as you've got something--family, friends, tennis, International Socialism, charity work, Jesus--for your own good to keep you occupied and motivated.

Not at all. Mind you, I think nationalism is silly and petty, so what do I know. I don't intend to live in God forsaken North America longer than I have to. I'd like to live somewhere where the culture is a bit more collectively oriented. My wife is Ukrainian, so maybe Eastern Europe somewhere, teaching in a university.

Yes, I plan on moving to a more progressive country when my children are grown. Not sure where yet, still in the dreaming, pre-planning stage.

Depending on the cultural flavor you want, I'd recommend New Zealand. My sister and brother-in-law are there now. The cost of living is on the high side, but it's a very socially progressive country that feels like one big small town - ie, not a lot happens in the way we know 'news'. Instead of murders and terror threats, you hear about some guy's lost dog being found. People are more giving as well. When my sister and her husband were first touring the island, looking for a place to live, and looking for transportation, some random people they had never met let them use their car for a week to find work and an apartment. To me that's pretty exceptional.
