CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you really want a honest answer to this loaded question, exodus?
I know some very nice heavy-metal fans: guys you look at, and shiver in fear - but if you know them closer, gentle and peacefull people (with a horrid taste of music)
I know some people who attend Christian youth groups I cringe at the thought of living on the same planet with them.
So if I met some people in this dark alley, I would hope that they were peacefull - regardless of their profession, colour of skin, religious affliction, height, smell or hairstyle.

I would not mind meeting the christian youth group in a dark alley........
And I wouldn't care about meeting a group of headbangers in a dark alley......
Both seem harmless to me.
Unless there's something you aren't telling us, exodus........like the christian youth group has been sent out for their first lynching.....or the headbangers are toting about chainsaws.......
Heck, they might be christian headbangers........on the way from the youth group TO the concert........

Just to refresh, this is the original post:
Need a quick, honest answer to question: It is late at night, you and your date take a shortcut to get to your car, you need to get home.You cut through an alley, ahead and coming towards you is a large group of young males......do you hope that they are coming from a Christian youth group or from a heavy metal rock concert? please be honest with your answers.

Sense I am 50 years old, a large group of young males would not really present any threat to me. Also, I have a son who is 24, so I am pretty use to talking to "young males".
But apart from all of that, no one is really a threat to us if we truely are a christian for two reasons. One, we have the power of God so that we can control their demons. Second of all, we have the love of God in us so that is no reason for anyone to get aggressive with us.
I remember in the book "The cross and the switchblade" where a group of young gang members admited to David Wilkerson that he had made them angry and they wanted to beat him up. They even made plans to do just that. But for some reason they were just not able to. We do have angels watching over us.
When dealing with a gang, there is always a leader and you always make it personal between you and the leader. Then everyone will back off, because he is being challanged to prove himself as a leader. You can not be afraid, because even a dog can tell if your are afraid. You have to have enough of God's love in you, so that there is no fear. Also, you have to have enough love in you that you care about seeing this person get saved. You need to see things from God's perspective.
I could tell you the story about our pastor here, when he was in Africa and a group of witch doctors charged the stage to do him harm and they were stoped by the power of God and the Blood of Jesus. They fell to the ground. When they got up some of them left and others rejoined the audience and got saved.
He has good security and they got right past the security, but they could not get past the angels of God.
