Are you talking to me, Dave?'Allegory' and 'Allegation'
are very similar words for-sure
Surely the parables are analogous of, better / more acceptable behaviours
Used for teaching the unschooled
ie: by-example
dave
Someone once described a parable as:
A real event, told with a Heavenly meaning.
In the parable of the sowers, for example, Jesus saw real people sowing seeds and watched as some fell upon stony ground and fertile ground.
When He told the story, He added to it how Satan works in the background, blinding unbelievers to the Truth.
That's nice.I very-often found myself, teaching my children with analogies
ie: "how would you feel if someone treated you in a particularly nasty way"?
followed quickly by:
"and how do you think they would feel, if you were to treat them in this way" ?
Correct. All his parables were told in ways the common man in that time would understand. Farmers could grasp the analogy as could herders and fishermen easily grasp others.
What those in this day and age always forget is that most of the populations consisted of farmers and herders and fishermen during that period of time.
That's nice.
Now what would you do if you took your grandson in for a haircut and the barber gave him a sucker afterward, and your grandson asked for another one to give to his sister?
Would you explain that's how Jesus intercedes for us?
If so, are you using a real example to explain a real Truth?
Adam was created ex materia from the dust of the earth.
At the time he was created, he was created as an adult.
About 20 or 30 years old.
Thanks! I can live with that; nevertheless, I do not have a blind faith in the aging techniques employed by Geo-science experts.
Embedded Age Creation is simply the belief that God embedded age into His creation.
I define it as: maturity without history.
Things appear old because they are old.
Put another way, God created a 4.47 billion year old earth in 4004 BC.
The earth is 4.47 billion years old physically; but 6018 years old existentially.
The good thing about science is that you do not need blind faith. If you want to you can learn how the science is done and read the peer reviewed articles on how they did their work for yourself. The scientific method includes open publication of ones work. There are no "secrets of science". If the ideas are secret then they are not scientific. Thanks! Did you get your list from a reputable source? You probably did not. The problem usually arises from the use of the word "assumptions". Most of the time what they call assumptions are actually deductions. I have found that most creationist sources are far from honest. The strength of evidence is also based on the assumptions the theory is based on. Can you list the assumptions the dating techniques are based on. I once read a list of 20 such assumptions.

The list of assumptions was presented by a renowned UCR professor who is en evolutionist.
