CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He's great. I prefer his older stuff, but some of his new stuff is pretty good too.

I bought his debut album, My Aim is True when it first came out in 1977, as well as This Year's Model, and then Armed Forces when they came out. I haven't kept up with his stuff since then, but his first 3 records were about as good as it gets. I put these records on the old turntable on occasion, and they still sound great. A great songwriter, with intelligent lyrics - a combination you don't find very often anymore.

Yeah, he is pretty good. We only have two of his CDs. The Best of, and North. I want to get more of his old stuff, but that's hard to get.

My Aim is True, is his debut and probably also his swan song, so to speak. I love just about every song on there (and the ones that I didn't love at first, I grew to love).
After that, I think my favorite things he has done are This Years Model, which is in a similar vein to MAIT or Trust, which was released as Elvis Costello & the Attractions and has alot more piano fused in with his classic sound.
Trust may be a little hard to find, but his early material has all been re-released in expanded two-cd versions with bonus tracks and such.
No matter what album you get, it has Elvis singing, and he has one of my favorite voices ever. He croons; I swoon. Or something like that.

I started off with The Best Of Elvis Costello. That has most of his good songs on it. Some of his older stuff is hard to find in Thailand and New Zealand. I'm not sure if that is the case in the US.
