Actually this is a good point. Eloping can really alienate family, even family who may have treated you badly in the past can feel hurt by the actions of children who elope..

My husband and I severely hurt both of our families by getting married without them or even any notice.

Well I'm blessed because both his parents adore me. They had three sons, so finally having a "daughter" around is something they enjoy. And I consider them my second set of parents. Because of how close his family is, that's mainly why they would be upset... same with mine.

I truly think I'm going to be the luckiest girl alive because I'll have a great husband and in-laws who I love and get along with too.
