CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It was not much of a debate with the rules of engagement they placed on each other. Even worse were the cut-away shots that were not supposed to be present as agreed upon by the two parties... Lehrer should of stopped that the moment it occured. As for who won the debate??? Though a Bush supporter I would have to give this one to Kerry.
What surprised me is the lack of reaction about one question. Lehrer asked Kerry about the character smear John made about George in the campaign. Kerry said he never used the term "liar" to describe Bush. The past few weeks Kerry said that Bush "lied and mislead the American people". On one occasion I heard Kerry say, "he is a liar". Seems to me that they are letting one of the questions slide from view. Selective memory?

Ding Dong... I heard the bell. I give my mia culpas now for miss-posting. 14 hours old in the CF and I make a mistake already. You are right, it belongs in a different forum and I should have read the other posts first. I need to figure out the style options I set. I will try not to compound wrong postings by following suite.
