Good afternoon friends

I have heard back from my Supervisor, who got a second opinion and we will be able to hold the Moderator elections right here in this forum rather than The Moderator Application forum.

We have two choices. As it stands now, once we have moderator candidates who accept nomination we need to have them fill out the Moderator Questionnaire and post this in a poll in the Moderator Application Forum. This forum is available to all CF members, who can vote in the poll.

The other option is to hold the Moderator elections right here in the SDA forum. the Questionnaire will still need to be filled out and posted here. Holding it here keeps it in the family and the votes cast can be limited to the members of this forum.

In order to conduct our elections under the present option, we only need to get acceptance from the candidates and get the questionnaire filled out for posting.

To hold them here in this forum under your rules and conditions, we would need a short vote to incorporate the election rules into the SDA wiki and temporary rules.

I can sure set up a poll with the two options for your approval.

What is the consensus here? would you like the elections held there or here?

There is no longer a moderator application or a questionnaire to fill out. The supporting moderator is supposed to start a poll thread and a Q&A thread for each candidate, which can be done here in the SDA forum. Please note the relevant section from the temporary election guidelines announced by herev:

4. To receive a nomination, a candidate must approach or be approached by a moderator and receive their support.

5. The supporting moderator will start two threads.
a. A poll with two options. "Yes" and "Apply Later".
b. A thread for Q&A with the candidate.
You can read the rest of the guidelines here.

Friend Tall73,

I got the following reply from Admin:
That would seem to make a lot of sense to me. They should however wiki their congregational mod app process to state their elections are held in the congregational forum, rather than the mod app forum. This should be done and stickied before they have elections.

I am aware of that. I replied to your post in the other thread. I was told last night By Tishri that the Moderator Questionnaire was still necessary

But as far as I know, there is no longer a moderator questionnaire. That is what will be made in the congregational areas: a Q&A thread for each candidate so that the members can ask questions.

Also, see these clarification posts in herev's thread (posts 2 and 3):

Steffi said:
Does this mean that applicants no longer fill out a mod application?
herev said:
that is correct--after we're done with the ones already filled in, see point c under 5 above

Point 5.c.:

c. While the application itself is no longer necessary, it might be usefull to use the old mod application to glean some of the questions for the applicant.

Longhair, I sent you a PM. I think there are a few specifics that will need to be worked out in the ET HQ regarding the details of the questions that we ask. (I would object to any questions that require the posting of personal information in public threads.)

I think I now understand the point of confusion, though. Some of the questions from the old mod app can be used to start the Q&A threads for each candidate. However, those who wish to be mods no longer have to fill out an application; instead, they have to secure an endorsement from a current staff member, who in turn will start the poll thread and Q&A thread for their election. The Q&A thread is what will serve as the interview questionnaire in this new system, and it is open for questions from members as well as staff.

I think everyone will agree with holding our elections in the SDA forum. The thing that may be more of a dispute is having separate poll threads for each candidate because I've seen some posts that favored voting on them all at once. What I was initially pointing out was that the guidelines are currently set up to elect each moderator separately, using a poll thread and a Q&A thread, not to lump them all together in one poll, so that part is not really up for debate at this point.

Friend Sophia is right. The guidelines clearly require separate polls for each candidate.

Hi Longhair,

I'm told that I've been nominated as a mod. So if it is alright, I'll post my acceptance here. If not please tell me where it should be posted.

Also, do I understand correctly that you will start the necessary threads for Q&A ect.?

Respectfully, your brother in Christ,
Doc
