  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

marianservant,

I cannot tell you what to do. Honestly, I am delighted that you are considering alternatives to Catholicism.

I am certain there are other churches in your area that are likely Reformed. Perhaps you should investigate that.

SO what do I do...a thir church? I could never live that down here! What to do?
:help: :help: :help:

Are you sure about your newfound theological beliefs? It sounds as though you're in a period of uncertainty, and this is not something to take lightly. As someone who's been through several stages between Arminianism and Calvinism, and still struggling with certain theological issues, I'm quickly learning that patience is a must. Don't be hasty. I think you have a lot to pray about and to be prayed for, and a lot of Scripture-study to do. It would be unfortunate if you committed yourself to a Reformed church and then decided you wanted to go back to the UMC. Also, as Knight said, you might want to investigate the Reformed churches in your area. Find out what they're all about.

Their is only one reformed church in my area, and I have not enjoyed any experience I have had with it, and I doubt I will go back to the UMC, because some of the thing they teach I simply cannot believe, so I am just going to attend a few churches I have been invited to or desire to go to, and then just go wherever God's spirit leads me.
God Bless

Well, I wish you well. My prayers are certainly with you. I'm in a non-Reformed church, and not sure whether or not to leave. At the rate things are going at this church, I may end up in your position.
