How about in Nevada....known for "sin city" etc. We decided by an overwhelming majority, to NOT legalize pot and make marriage ONLY between a man and a woman.....
HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!.
Where sin abounds grace abounds much more!

Not exactly Nevada decided it would not recognize Civil Unions passed by other states.
And just for clarification, marriage does not = Civil Union

ACTUALLY this is what was on the ballot, sorry but it says marriage.
QUESTION NO. 2
Amendment to the Nevada Constitution
An Initiative relating to the definition of marriage
<P align=justify>Shall the Nevada Constitution be amended to provide that: "Only a marriage between a male and female person shall be recognized and given effect in this state?"

A marriage by definition takes place in a church, a Civil Union by defintion doesn't, so it that is the case, the law passed accomplished nothing, because Civil Unions are still legal. They have quite a few other definitions that legally seperate them too.
Nevada intended, on banning gay marriage, woo hoo go them they banned something that doesn't exist.

Your so funny, why would there be an objection if it didnt mean anything....I think your just mad.
But whatever....you arent getting into specifics over marriage with me, I've lived here ALL my life and my best friend owns 5 wedding chapels.....you get MARRIED there and it isnt a church. Everyone knows what the law means and it means the UNION/MARRIAGE wont be recognized unless its between a man and a woman!
Besides the fact that you changed your arguement twice in your posts.

Why would I be mad? I can legally have my Commitment Ceremony, and wouldn't want to do it in Nevada. I didn't say marriages were limited to churches, but one major difference is Civil Unions, don't take place in a church.
I couldn't be anymore happy, right now there are 5 openly homosexual people in congress 3 are Rebuplican.

Commitment Ceremony? Who cares that doesnt mean anything to anyone except yourselves. And it wont hold up here is my point.
The whole point was that you were wrong! You tried to argue something you didnt know all the facts about, and your not even here.

Commitment Ceremony = Civil Union and it is recognized in several states, and those people are given the same legal rights as married couples.
We'll wait and see, you act like those in power had never been wrong and made mistakes before.
I know a marriage and a Civil Union aren't the same thing, therefore banning one, doesn't ban the other.

To think, eldermike, that there aren't any other more serious concerns in California, that they can have an initiative like this! Boy, that state must have it allllll together......
Peace in Christ,
