  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just looked up that Anasthasian creed. I have never seen it or heard of it in any church I have ever been to. For one thing it would take the entire service to recite it.....lol
When we recite it (maybe a couple of times a year) Pastor advises the elderly that it is OK to remain seated during it. :)

Hi Korah:

The Athanasian Creed was printed in the LBW but rarely used.

I can assure you that the LC-MS does not believe that everyone else is going to hell, though sometimes it seems as if they do. I think that they do believe that they are a bastion of doctrinal purity, however. They believe that others are in error, and therefore in need of correction.

As for the Athanasian creed, when I was able to attend the ELCA church in town (a very long story as to why I cannot attend there now), we said it on Trinity Sunday and we often sat during it. However, there was one pastor that told us that the rituals are nice, but you worship how you feel is best, and I often feel much more humble sitting before God and worshiping (also, my back gets quite sore because of my scoliosis), so I tend to sit.

As for the LCMS not believing we are going to hell, well, they haven't acted that way at LCMS congregations that I've visited nor some of the members that I've met, however, I've been told that I AM going to hell by three of the members here . . . just because of believing in open communion!

KagomeShuko...

Long time no see!

Those who have told you that you will go to hell for believing in open Communion may have an everlasting surprise coming when they see who Jesus lets sit at the table.
