Ex.6:2-3 I revealed myself to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as Êl of the Wilderness but was not known to them by My Name YHVH

"El"... notice that God said that He was known by the name "El' before giving His name as "YHVH". Most of the time in the Bible Êl is translate as ‘God’ in the singular form and Elohim in its plural form.

So.... is it true that the name YHVH was not known to Abraham, Issac and Jacob?

Genesis 12 tells us that Abram called upon the name of the L-RD but we aren't told which name that was. This was after the L-RD telling him his decendants would inherit the land of Canaan. Then Abram builds an altar and calls upon the name.

7 And the L-RD appeared unto Abram, and said , Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the L-RD, who appeared unto him. 8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the L-RD, and called upon the name of the L-RD.

In Chapter 13 Abram goes down to Egypt, then leaves and when he does he repeats this action. He goes back to the altar and calls upon the name of the L-RD again.

1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. 2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; 4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the L-RD.

After this he splits with Lot and then we read about his separation

18 Then Abram removed his tent , and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the L-RD.

Chapter 14 speaks of the wars among the kings. To the King of Sodom Abram refers to him as El Elyon.

22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the L-RD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

Chapter 15 we see Abram replying to the 'word' in a vision and calling him Adonai YHVH.

Chapter 17

When Abraham was 99 years old he appeared to him and told him his name was El Shaddai.

1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the L-RD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Here regarding the covenant in ch 17 He says

7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Where it says 'a God' it is a translation of 'Elohim'.

The 'ot' Tanakh (Torah, Nevi'im, Ketuvim when tranlsated into the septuagint, had the name of God removed (to protect, put a fence around it) by the 70 hebrew scribes, to ensure that no one blasphemed His Name by prounouncing it incorrectly or by it being used by 'new gentile' believers in an inappropriate manner. The replaced it with Adonai, Elohim etc. So Abraham and Moses as all the Forefathers did know His name YHWH as Adam did.

So... you are saying the OP verse quote in question is inaccurate?
