  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, God knows all our thoughts and feelings. I just pray from my heart...talk to God. Talk to Him in honor, praise, and thanksgiving. I also believe we should confess our sins every day and ask forgivness, which humbles ourselves before Him. God is so good. He loves us and wants us to talk to Him about everything.

It took quite a few years to really understand "effective prayer". I used to pray only when I had a problem. Took awhile to understand just how wrong that was. Effective prayer in my life now is praising HIM-this is acknowledging who HE really is - GOD the FATHER of all. Thanking HIM for all HE has given me in my life, including disipline. Confess to HIM and repent of my weaknesses. Just talking to HIM for awhile - HE loves just to hear from me. Sometimes that is all I do is just spend quality time with HIM. I always feel great afterwards. Then if I have a prayer request: I bring it before HIM and back it up with scripture. I ask in the Name of JESUS. I believe.
HE is always here in my life. I can't even imagine a moment without HIM who truly loves me as HIS child.

i dont think there is any list of essential needs for effective prayer, its not like baking a cake. though i know thats not what you meant.

there are only principles to prayer, there is no formula or steps to prayer.

here are a few that may help you or someone else if they dont already know.

1. you ask in the name of Jesus.
(though some people still dont get this even though we all know it)
it doesnt mean putting "in Jesus name" on the end of the sentence like a lucky rabbits foot and believing that that phrase has power. that phrase does nothing by itself, it isnt any good untill you realise what it means.
its not that you say those words, its that you understand that the reason you have the ability to ask God to move for you is becuase of what Jesus did for you, your coming in the right Jesus gave you, and thats were faith that you will be heard comes from.
but it isnt the words.

2. desire.
we have put so much emphasis on faith.
but we forget the part that Jesus said that we can have those things that we DESIRE. we think faith can get us all things, and thats not always true.
and what im trying to say is that we often become interested in something and begin to ask God for it, but it doesnt come when we want it we forget it and move on, and that is not desiring it. you have to commited to seeking it even if it takes years and you may die without it, but you refuse to live without it.
you have to desire it.
for prayers to be truely effective, sometimes you have to have the attitude that says i am going to have this or i will die seeking it, becuase i will not live without it! i refuse to not have it!

becuase sometimes we begin to pray but we are not willing to continue to pray and wait on it. prayer can be hard, and it takes more than just an interest in something to get it sometimes, it takes you putting your foot down and praying for hours and days and weeks untill it happens, BECUASE YOU WILL NOT LIVE WITHOUT IT!
and even if you die and never get it, die believing and seeking it.
but never give up on it.
becuase there are times when you have TARRY....in prayer like Jesus said.
God can send us things, but satan can hinder it like he did gabriel in the book of daniel, and if you stop praying and lose faith for it and walk away youll never receive it, even thought it was on the way.
James said
the effectual FERVENT prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

3. whats the purpose?
God is not always interested in some of the things we ask for.
God changed me becuase there was once a time when i only prayed for myself, to get things.
but i beleive to truely be an effective prayer warrior you have to get your eyes off of yourself and begin to pray inline with the purpose of God in the earth for the rest of humanity. God is much more interested in my church prospering and being a tool to reap the harvest than me praying and asking him to bless me financially for own pleasure, though prayer can get you both.
but to be an effective prayer person means to be one that accomplishes Gods will, not just gets things, though if you cant get things then you really arent good at praying.
we need to begin to pray with his purpose and other people in mind.

4. some people dont realise that God depends on us praying.
Jesus told us how to pray in matthew 6. and luke 11.2.
and he says we have to pray and ask God to do his will on the earth.
verse 10.
we seem to forget that just because it is Gods will for us to have something, doesnt mean it will come to pass if we dont pray.

5.you need to spend some time in worship before getting into the presence of God before you begin to ask for things. you give to God in worship, and he gives back. give and it shall be given.
but people can never experience praying deeply in his presence if you dont venture there in worship before you begin to pray for things.
this refers to time alone with God, not so much something on the spur of the moment. though we need to keep a constant attitude of worship to God.

6. it takes practice and experience.
you learn overtime as the holyspirit leads.

sorry, i didnt mean to post so much, i just wanted to say it all, maybe something was said that helped someone who read this.
