• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, well...I'm starting an ED support group in my area. I am really nervous because well...it's risky, I'm taking a huge step out of my comfort zone. I guess I really just wanted to ask for prayers, I have recieved so much support from friends already in me going through with this group and a few friends here at CF  , which I am grateful for have prayed for me...I hope so much that this group will be a success.

What I wanted to also say is that, any one of you can also start a group in your area. I know in my area, we don't have anything but OA, and well...for me it's OK, but at the end of the meetings they hug (in my town, I don't know about others) and that's just not something I am comfortable with and so it keeps me away. So I decided to find out what I could do to start a support group in my town for eating disorders. There is EDA (Eating Disorders Annonymous) http://www.eatingdisordersanonymous.org/ which is good, but I opted for ANAD, and will probably use some of the same concepts and ideas that EDA has too...but I like the structure of ANAD. You can find out how by going to their website http://www.anad.org.

I am excited and so nervous at the same time. But I wanted to share for a few reasons..there is another side of this illness. You can get to the point where you can actually help others, because you've been there and back! Another reason was for prayer and the other was to encourage you in starting your own group if your able to. I am not 100% recovered by no means, and I'm sure that there will always be some part of me that struggles, I will have dark valleys and not so dark valleys that I will go through regarding my disorder...but it will not take me down! And I want to help others see they don't have to live in this prison...

So...anyhow, please if you think about it, could you just pray for the support group I am starting...in that it will be a success, something that will be positive in the lives of those that come...and pray for me to have peace and wisdom in handling the group...and whatever else you feel lead to pray on behalf of the group and me, I would appreciate it very much! I believe the first meeting will start Oct. 20th, I'm still waiting on verification of the place where we will meet.

Thanks!
Amanda
