Absolutely! His recognition of the schismatics was part of the fuel thrown on the fire.
My thinking tells me that the Ukrainian autocephaly question was problematic to the degree that the only proper thing to do in resolving it would have been to raise it in an Ecumenical synod. Otherwise we have mere power intoxicated and corrupt hierarchs believing and acting as if they are supreme pontiffs; making decisions that are easily capable of being responsible for sending countless souls to perdition. The fact that the Patriarchs are indeed doing this very thing is a testament to the times. What a generation our is!

I found out this weekend that some of my coworkers in Ukraine were killed. Right now I'm in a very foul mood.
Then you should be angry at the people responsible for driving Russia into this conflict with Ukraine. Don't shoot the messenger.
Ultimately, death comes to us all, and our responsibility as Orthodox Christians is to prepare for that moment as best we can, and until that moment comes, pray for those for whom it has already come. This world is transient and it is fallen. It is full of conflict and strife, but one thing is needful. As Orthodox Christians let us strive towards Christ, to sit at His feet as Mary did, not concerning ourselves with the issues as Martha did.

I think you can be angry at both those who green lit Russia’s invasion, and Russia for invading.

"love for the fatherland, which is the greatest virtue"

Patriarch says Russians who don't serve country are 'internal enemies'

The head of Russia's powerful Orthodox Church on Tuesday branded Russians who fail to serve their country as "internal enemies" and described patriotism as the "greatest virtue", the RIA state news agency reported.

Patriarch Kirill is a close ally of President Vladimir Putin and has strongly backed the war in Ukraine, in which tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions more driven from their homes.
"Today our prayer is for our fatherland, that the Lord may protect it from external and internal enemies, from all those who do not associate their lives with Russia, who are ready to make money in Russia, but have never been ready to serve the fatherland," RIA quoted Kirill as saying in a sermon.
"We must inculcate in people, including through church preaching, love for the fatherland, which is the greatest virtue," he said in the sermon, delivered at the Cathedral of the Archangel inside the Kremlin compound in central Moscow.

The Ecumenical Patriarch has zero crediblity with my priest, the clergy I know, my fellow parishioners, and myself. We all can't stand him and feel he's an instrument of the evil one at this point. Pray for him. I need to pray for myself with the thoughts he engenders in me.

Definitely. I read he's behind the mess with the schismatics taking over the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Churches in Ukraine, leaving the people without their churches, which was in that video I shared (I got from a fellow parishoner today) in another thread.

Totally agree. The things I've read about him today (much more than in the past), I feel he should be defrocked. He is doing the work of the evil one. A betrayer. God forgive me, but we are supposed to speak up against things done against Christ and His Church.

Head of Russian Orthodox Church calls for unity amid Wagner rebellion

From CNN’s Uliana Pavlova

The head of Russia’s Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, has called for national unity, urging Wagner fighters under chief Yevgeny Prigozhin “to think again."
“When the enemies are making every effort to destroy Russia, any attempt to sow discord within the country is the greatest crime that has no justification. As the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, I call on those who, having taken up arms and are ready to use them against their brethren, to think again. I support the efforts of the head of state aimed at preventing unrest in our country,” Patriarch Kirill said in a statement Saturday.
In his address, the patriarch called the Wagner mutiny a "test." He called on Russians to preserve national unity, as well as to support the soldiers and each other with all their might.
The patriarch has supported Russia's conflict with Ukraine, saying last March it was an extension of a fundamental culture clash between the wider Russian world and Western liberal values, exemplified by expressions of gay pride.
Experts said Kirill’s comments offered important insights into Putin’s larger spiritual vision of a return to a Russian Empire, in which the Orthodox religion plays a pivotal role.

that’s got a tinge of irony, methinks.
