  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, I hope you have your attention.

I've come back here for only one thread and only one reason:

I've read "The Hot Zone". If you haven't you should. It's the story of the only time Ebola got into the United States. Maryland, specifically, about 10 miles for DC.

(That's Washington, DC)

It took the Army, the CDC and the WHO to stop it before it got out into the population.

But that's not way I'm here,

I'm here to scare you. And for the first time in my 11 years on this board ask for prayer.

Guys:

The ONLY good thing about Ebola is that it's so frightening, so fast, and so horrible that when it breaks out somewhere people are scared completely insane and run for the hills.

Thus, Ebola burns itself out because it has no one to infect.

Except now.

Boys and girls we have a problem. This time Ebola got lucky - it hit a mobile population.

It's getting around.

It's in a second wave (an unheard of thing) and in 3 countries.

And spreading. And no one in here in the world seems to have noticed.

News from The Associated Press

{emphasis mine}

A lot of you guys don't pay much attention to me anymore and, that's ok.

But I'm serious as a nuclear attack, we (as a human on this planet) are in some serious trouble here, Africans especially.

If this gets into Europe, I don't even what to think about it.

I think maybe we should as some help.

We might need it.

Thank you for your attention.

The WHO is going to hold an emergency meeting over this outbreak:

Hmm, seems to still be spreading in numerous small communities; makes me wonder how likely it will transmit to communities with individuals who are affluent enough to travel cross-continent/intercontinentally.

I've heard that one can be infected with Ebola for about 20 days before one can tell (and I understand that by the time one can tell that one has been infected with it, it's all over.) Have also heard that some of the invading children on our southern border (particularly the ones from West Africa) have been exposed to this contagious fatal disease. Scary if true because the children are simply being bussed all over the U.S.

The saving grace in all of this is that Ebola is not extremely easy to spread. Infection requires direct contact with body fluids and secretions. It usually kills victims so quickly that there isn't time to infect a large number of people.

Yes, that's true.
I wonder why it's spreading so well.
Perhaps contaminated water or similar.

But if anyone can get footage of an epileptic ebola patient, that's youtube viral right there...

....with Tourette's.

After a few million hits, Fox would likely create a zany, fish-out-of-water sitcom about the Tourette's/Ebola/epileptic guy's struggles with his two disrespectful teenage kids, his go nowhere job, his way-too-hot-to-be-believable wife and their wacky neighbor, who has a new get rich scheme every week that never quite plays out.

From what I've read no two Ebola outbreaks have been genetically identical

It evolves fast

Maybe the strain gets around easier I don't know

It's one of the things that has WHO a kit little freaked

It's still spreading:

Nigerian Government Confirms Ebola Death In City Of Lagos

...and now a doctor has contracted it:

American Doctor In Africa Tests Positive For Ebola

Lagos isn't some backwater town in where-the-heck-am-I Africa. It's a huge city, and international trade center.

I'm I a little shock up ?

Yes I am.

This knotted long protein string virus even looks evil:
