  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i've been a vegetarian for a bit over 5 years now... it didn't start off as a religious 'thing', though at times while i was exploring my spirituality (tried out the buddhist lifestyle) it did take on more significance. now that i've found and decided to stick with christianity, im going to keep my vegetarianism. it's true that god gave us the earth and animals, but that doesn't mean we need to eat them. granted, there's nothing wrong with making that choice, so long as the animals are treated humainly - ghandi said that the "measure of a society is how it treats it's animals" (the lowest creatures). for me, it's enough to know that i can nourish myself without killing off animals - as long as that's true i'll stay a vegetarian. if a doctor ever told me i wasn't getting the nourishment i needed, i'd go back. just that simple for me :)

Why, as a matter of fact, I have read the entire chapter.

Thanks.

Let me spell it out.

God Did speak to Peter in that trance, and when God told Peter to kill and to eat, Peter did not balk at the idea of killing animals to eat, but he balked at the idea of killing certain "common" animals for food.

Yes, the meaning is regards Gentiles.

Yes, we can see that Peter was not adverse to killing animals for sustenance.
OK.

ACTS 10:17...notice how it says...even though Peter had that dream....it still says....."While Peter was wondering what this vision meant....." That proves that it wasnt about the food as you have mentioned being clean and unclean. If you are right...dont you think Peter would have understood the dream also?

Also in ACTS 10: 28....it says the dream was later reveiled as Peter saying "But God has shown me that I should not call any person 'unclean' or 'unholy' Right there in that verse..... Peter, himself, said what the dream meant. Why would Peter have said this? If you are correct and you think he is talking about food.......Peter would have said "God says all animals are clean to eat" instead of saying God has shown him in a dream that no person is "unclean" or "unholy"

But I feel people should eat whatever they want. I personally love Cows so I dont eat them...I also love Pigs and Chicken....I am a Vegetarian.

What did I say the vision's meaning was?

Me: "Yes, the meaning is regards Gentiles."

What did I say we could "see" in the vision?

Me: "Yes, we can see that Peter was not adverse to killing animals for sustenance."
