He had already suffered a beating that killed most men. He was now unrecognizable. His flesh had been torn from His body. Blood dripped down from His forhead where the thorns had cut in. He struggled just to walk back up to the platform where the crowd waited to punish Him even more. He had been up for days, He had not eaten anything, He had hardly drank anything, His body was literally drained. He had no energy to walk in front of His accusers...yet He somehow accomplished it. When the crowd saw this bloddy image of a man they yelled, "Crusify Him!" With that He was led away. They made Him carry His own cross. He was wearing sacloth on a hot, dry Israeli day. The sacloth and spliters of the cross dug into His already torn skin. He was mocked the entire way to calvary. It became so bad that He could no longer bear the burden of His plight. When He finally reached the top of the hill, they nailed Him to that cross. They took 9 inch nails, held them to His wrist, and with three bangs, His flesh became one with the wood, bound to it by the iron nails. They then lifted up the cross as it fell into a hole, dislocating His shoulders so He could not lift Himself up to breath. He sat up there, being mocked. He then died. He did all of this for me...so that I might turn my back on Him and criticize Him to this day. He did this KNOWING I would dissapoint Him and make a mockery of Him by the way I live my life.
Easter has come and gone. Easter is ammatuer Christian day, where once a year, those who do not attend church put on nice clothing, go to church, and pretend to be Christians. They are recognizable, for the true majority of believers put on nice clothes every week and pretend to be Christians every week. We have dedicated one day, just one day, to the very thing that has saved us. We show respect to the cross one day out of 365 days...He knew we would do this, yet He died anyway. He suffered knowing we would do this.
Our lives should be Easter. Our lives should exuberate the ressurection of Christ. We should be daily reminded of the suffering He endured and then how He rose again from the grave to cover our sins.
I wasn't sure where to post this, but it was on my chest and I had to get it off. Guess I'm just rambling....carry on.
