Easter shopping

Does anyone LOVE shopping for Easter dresses as much as I do?? I feel so blessed to have 2 beautiful little girls to dress up in ruffles and lace and pretty spring hats. So, anyway, it's that time of year again and we're getting ready to hit the malls. What about you other parents out there? Do you like Easter shopping as much as I do?

I just thought that one bought Easter Eggs for the kids at Easter, LOL!!! I have three daughters and I am afraid I was hopeless at dressing them up when they were small, hating pretty clothes myself! Fortunately my mother, who is very elegant, would make sure they had one or two pretty dresses, LOL!!!

LOL, well, their Grandma insists on paying for the dresses, but I get to pick them out (that's the fun part). And, yes, we also have to get easter eggs and baskets...and a carrot for the Easter bunny, of course.

We've had such pretty weather lately. I hope it continues into Easter weekend.

I like Easter shopping too. The one thing that makes it a little frustrating is that all the dresses are either sleeveless or short-sleeved, and they're really not warm for this time of year. My daughter got a really pretty one this year from her grandma. It's beautiful, but she's going to freeze unless she wears a cardigan over it, and that would cover up the pretty parts. oh well, it's still fun

I love providing pretty dresses for my daughters.

I can't stand what's available in the shops: it seems that either the fabric is synthetic, or the cut is too sophisticated (or is sleeveless -- I agree about the inappropriateness of that!), or the workmanship is poor. But I love to sew "church-and-party" dresses. And although my obligations as a full-time wage-earner tend to interfere a bit with hobbies such as heirloom sewing <grin> and I often miss the Easter dead-line, classical styles last long enough that they usually get to wear them on the subsequent Easter!

Me too, I thought this thread would be about Easter eggs, lol. I don't often see parents make fuss over what their little girls wear at Easter. I have seen kids in primary schools all make an Easter hat (boys and girls) my son is too young for that just yet.

Wow, I guess I just assumed everyone made a fuss about Easter clothes for their kids. LOL, I grew up with my Gram making sure that I had a special new dress for Easter and a new dress for Christmas...so I guess I've carried that over to my own kids. I just think it's so much fun to shop with them and try clothes on. I'm lucky that they LOVE new clothes and don't mind trying things on.

I have so many wonderful memories of wearing a pretty new dress to church on Easter Sunday, then coming home to find that the Easter bunny had left eggs all over the yard...and an Easter basket with chocolate bunnies and Teen Beat/Tiger Beat magazine on the front porch. LOL, yes, I was a child of the 80's.

Ahh, those were the days.

I guess I am still rebelling at the age of 54!

My mother loved to have her four little girls beautifully turned out for church. We wore the prettiest dresses, hats and shoes. I was a tomboy and Sundays were a real pain as we were not permitted to change into our play clothes between services. Clothes were not easy care in the 50s, and so messing them up landed you in BIG TROUBLE!!! As soon as I could dress as I pleased, I settled for comfortable scruffs, LOL!!! From time to time, my youngest daughter (28) who is very elegant, marches me down to the stores and insists I do some clothes shopping. We have a wedding to attend later in the year, and I can't say I am looking forward to it as it means dressing up. My daughter says T shirt, jeans and my walking boots are not an option, RATS!!!!!!!!!! I am a hopeless case. Is there anyone else who hates dressing up????

I usually like to dress up a bit more on Sunday than any other time. I usually put my little boy into a button up shirt, rather than a t-shirt. I think it's good to look nice occasionally, although every day wear, is rather sloppy at home.


I remember my parents making an easter egg hunt out the backyard, when we were little. Haven't really started that with our son, but I was thinking that this year I would buy him an egg and stuff, I haven't done that before, but then he is 28mths, and the first easter he isn't a baby. Oh and Easter this year is my birthday, so it will be an exciting day this year.

We used to have an Easter Egg hunt for our kids. As they grew older they had clues which they had to solve, getting more and more complicated as they grew older. Sometimes the clues would take them all over the area where we lived. It was good for stretching their minds. I have known Easter egg hunts take days. When the kids grew up they reversed the process, and created Easter egg hunts for my husband. He is an extremely intelligent man with four degrees, so the clues he had to solve were of MENSA level, LOL!!!!

Our church is having an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids the day before Easter. I'm so excited...it'll be my 3 year old's first time. Last year it was rainy.

this is my first year as a parent of a lil boy but still the only place we could find lil boy easter outfits was at sears and it was onsale lol I love spring sales...

OH YES...GETTING A NEW EASTER FROCK FOR CHURCH WAS ALWAYS A HUGE DEAL AT MY HOUSE....FRILLY,LACY DRESSES LACY SOCKS AND SHINY SHOES...THE BUNNY COMING AND DOING THE EGGS...
MY DAUGHTER IS 21 MONTHS OLD...WE HAVE BEEN SHOPPING FOR OUR CHURCH ATTIRE...BUT I HAVE NOTICED THAT THEY DON'T SEEM TO MAKE THE FRILLY STANDOUT DRESSES SO MUCH LIKE THAY USED TO...MOST OF THE DRESSES ARE LONG AND SIMPLE...WE PURCHASED A SLEEVELESS DRESS AND THEB REALIZED THAT WOULD BE TOO CHILLY SO MAWMAW WENT ABD BOUGHT US A DRESS WITH A JACKET AND A HAT..
